HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957 12-04 CCM Special Session-Election Canvass December 4, 1957 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, was duly held at the Village Hall on . the 4th day of December, 1957, at 8:15 p.m. The following members were present: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Carl Carlson, Wayne Gageby, and Russ Jones. ' D CANVASS BOARD MEETING Yet The Mayor announced that the order of business was the consideration of the returns of the Village Election held December 3, 1957. The offices up for election were Mayor, Trustee, Treasurer, Justice of Peace, and Constable. The results are as follows: For the Office of Mayor: William N. Super Received 1145 Robert Clayson " 3 P. Super Trustee Wayne Gageby -2- Village Treasurer Victor A. Ibtebberg Justice of Peace Raymond Benson Constable Robert Cahlander The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by mer Clifford Wellman and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Carl Carlson, Wayne Gageby, and Russ Jones; and the following voted against the same: None. Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. With respect to the vote upon the proposed issuance of X1+00,000 park bonds the following proceedings were had: The Clerk presented an affidavit of posting showing that on October 30, 1957. there were posted in three conspicuous places In the village notices to the voters of the submission of the proposition on the issuance of not to exceed $400,000. in bonds for park purposes. This affidavit was examined and found satis- factory. The Clerk also produced an affidavit of publication stating that the same notice had been published in the North Hennepin Post on November 14 and 21, 1957. This affidavit was also examined and found satisfactory. The Clerk then presented the election returns which had been examined and counted by the judges and clerks which returns were then examined and canvassed by the Village Council and found to be as follows: Ballots cast in favor of the proposition T97 Ballots cast against the proposition 498 Ballots spoiled None Total ballots cast 1295 Member Wayne Gageby thereupon introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County, Minnesota, that it is hereby found and determined that at the election bold in and for said village on December 3, 1957 in which there was submitted to the voters the question of issuing in the amount of not to exceed $400,000 for the purpose of providing money to ac- quire and improve parks and playgrounds, there were cast a total of 1295 ballots of which 797 were in favor thereof and 498 were against the same and no ballots were spoiled or blank, and said proposition is hereby declared to have been carried by more than the requisite majority. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Clifford Wellman, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Carl Carlson, Wayne Gageby, and Rr: Jones; and the following voted against the same: None. Whereupon said resolut* -on was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion made by Russ Jones and seconded by Clifford Wellman to adjourn. Motion carried. C r _3_
