Adjournment MINUTES OF THE PROCEEDIIIGS OF THE HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF BROOKLYN CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HENNIEPIN AND THE STATE OF MINNESOTA SPECTAL SESSION APRIL 9, 1984 CITY HALL CALL TO ORDER The Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment Authority met in special session and was called to order by Chairman Dean Nyquist at 9:03 P.m. ROLL CALL Chairman Dean Nyquist, Commissioners Gerie Lhotka, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis. Also present were HRA Director Gerald Splinter, Director of Public Works Sy Knapp, Director of 'Finance Paul Holmlund, Director of Planning & Inspection Ron Warren, City Attorney Richard Schief f er, and Administrative Assistant Tom Bublitz. APPROVAL OF MINUTES ;MARCH 12, 1984 There was a motion by Commissioner Scott and seconded by Commissioner Theis to approve the minutes of the Larch 12, 1984 Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment Authority meeting as submitted. Voting in favor: Chairman Nyquist, Commissioners Lhotka, Scott, Hawes, and Theis. Voting against: none. The motion passed unanimously. RESOLUTION NO. 84-5 Member Gene Lho-ka introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION APPROVING ONE (1) BROOKLYN CENTER HOUSING REHABILITATION GRANT The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Celia Scott, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Gene Lhotka, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. AJOURN1 There was a motion by Commissioner Lhotka and seconded by Commissioner Scott to adjourn the meeting. Voting in favor: Chairman Nyquist, Commissioners Lhotka, Scott, Hawes, and Theis. Voting against: none. The motion passed unanimously. R1:SOLUTION APPRO`,II?' C. "; ; (1 ) BR(X)KLYN CENTER HOUSING RT:-:H MLi`'A'TI GRANT WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center housing and Redevelopment Authority has established a Home Rehabilitation Grant. Program to assist low and moderate income individuals in the maintenance and repair of their homes; and WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment Authority has receive one (1) application from an eligible individual to receive grant assistance; and 11HEREAS, an inspection by the City Y of Brook Center has determined that the work is necessary and appropriate under the Brooklyn Center Housing Rehabilitation Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the proposed grant application is estimated at $7,500. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment Authority that: 1. The Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment Authority does approve the one (1) housing rehabilitation grant application as recommended by the staff. 2. That the work be performed as recommended by the staff and that the applicants be directed to obtain the necessary bids for staff review and approval. 3. The project shall not exceed the grant limits of $7,500 per house. Splinter_, City Maziager FROM: Brad Hoffman, Administrative Assist-ant DATE: May 4, 1984 SUBJECT: HRA Rehab Grants The following rehab grant application is recommended for HRA approval. The information contained in this memo is private and not available to the general public. A. Mary Young, 3919 France Place. The following work is recommended: 1. Weatherstrip front and back door. 2. Upgrade electrical to 100 amp, split kitchen circuit. 3. Replace 40 gallon water_ heater with Day and Night Jetglass Jupiter or equal. 4. Replace furnace with energy efficient (350) gas forced air. 5. Insulate rim joist. 6. Connect to City water system, disconnect existing well.* 7. Replace front and back storm doors with benida or equal (extruded aluminum with welded corners, 2 track with inter- locking sashes, aluminum screen wire and weatherstriping.) *Given emergency prior approval for this item only
