APPROVAL OF 11T1 JTES - 10VF �'�R 7, 1983 There was a motion.' by Commissioner �qotka and seconded by Commissioner Scott to approve the minutes of the lovernber, 7, 1983 Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment Authority meeting as sub?nitted. Voting in favor: Chairman Nyquist, Comrissione-t's L:rotka, Scott, Hawes, and Theis. Voting against: none. The motion passed unanimously. ME ` O TIC,T NO. 83-23 I'iember�Gene I:ho introduced the follotiring .resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUT IOTA APPROVING FOUR (4) BROOTarN CENTER HOUSING REHAI?ILITATION MINTS The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Celia Scott, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dean Nyquist, Gene Lhotka, Celia Scott, Bill Hawes, and Rich Theis; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duty passed and adopted. RESOLUTION APPROVING ONE (1) BROC L'.ry CENTER HOUSING REHABILITATION G RAN T WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment Authority has established a Home Rehabilitation Grant Program to assist low and moderate income individuals in the maintenance and repair of their homes; and v WHEREAS, the Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment Authority has received one (1) application from an eligible individual to receive grant assistance; and n WHEREAS, an inspection by the City of Brooklyn Center has determined that the work is necessary and appropriate under the Brooklyn Center Housing Rehabilitation Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the proposed grant application is estimated at $8,250. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment p ant Authority that: 1. The Brooklyn Center Housing and Redevelopment Authority does approve the one (1) housing rehabilitation grant application as recommended by the staff. 2. That the work be performed as recommended in the confidential memorandum dated December 16, 1983, and that the applicant be directed to obtain the necessary bids for staff review and approval. 3. The project shall not exceed the grant limits of $8,250 per house. MEMORANDUM TO: Gerald G. Splinter, City Manager FROM: Brad Hoffman, Administrative Assistant" } DATE: December 16, 1983 SUBJECT: HRA Grant Applications The following grant application is recommended for HRA approval. The information contained in this memo is private and not available to the general public. 1. Ada D. VanDenBoom, 6406 Lee Avenue North. The following work is recommended: a. Refinish exterior side of front door. b. Adjust weatherstripping or reweatherstrip as needed on front door. C. Replace worn out vinyl weatherstrip on thresholds both front and side doors. d. Repair front living room picture window. Correct as needed. Also add storm window to picture window section. e. Reroof attached garage. f. Extend valleys on front of house and fill open space under valley where accessible to soffit g. Repair broken windows and screens. h. Install new storm windows on basement. i. Replace front storm door with good quality enamel finish. p e s i g q y j. Insulate exterior walls. OK to insulate from interior that part of front wall which is stone faced. Contractor to patch drilled holes and finish for owner to repaint the wall. k. Replace walk door in garage. 1. Install drop pipe to safety releif valve on water heater, to within 12" of floor. m. Install electric smoke detector on first floor. n. Remove loose spauling concrete from face of concrete block in garage on each side of concrete steps and in basement north wall. Repair by cement plastering over same block. o. Remove approximately 2 foot section of concrete garage apron adjacent to house and install approximately 2" sand fill or as needed to provide 2" slope for drainage away from house. OK to replace same concrete apron section if salvagable, or pour new concrete. p. Check grade around house for proper drainage away from house. Will have to wait until next spring to place fill dirt to raise grade if necessary for 6" slope in 3 to 4 feet.
