The Village Council met in regular session and was called to order
by William N. Super, Mayor, at 7 :00 P.M.
The following membas were present: William N. Super, Clifford
Wellman, Allen Lindman, Wayne Gageby, and Russ Jones.

the minutes of the regular session of December 11, 1956. The minutes were
approved as recorded. Motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Clifford Wellman that
the Village Council approve and accept the following cigarette license
applications:
Beason Cafe, 6533 Lyndale Avenue North
Ideal Drug Co., Inc. #3, 5740 Morgan Avenue North
Purity Dairy & Food Store, 902 53rd Avenue North
Klein's Foods, 5712 Morgan Avenue North
Lane's D.X. Service, 6900 Osseo Road
Lane & Ernst, 6912 Osseo Road
McGrath Grocery, 58+5 Lyndale Avenue North
Motion carried,
Motion made by Clifford Wellman and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the
Village Council approve and accept the application of Starbird Electric
Company, 1938 West Broadway, Minneapolis, Minn] for an electrician's license.
Motion carried.
Motion made by Clifford Wellman and seconded by Allen Li that
the Village Council approve and accept the application of Lynbrook Bowl
for a bowling alley license for the year 1956. Motion carried.
Motion made by Clifford Wellman and seconded by WayneGageby that
the Village Council approve and accept the application of Lynbrook Bowl for a
bowling alley license for the year 1957. Motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Clifford Wellman that the
Village Council approve and accept the application for a license to operate a
filling station within the V illage of Brooklyn,Center for the year 1956 to
Lane's D.X. Station located at 6900 Osseo Roadi Motion carried.
Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Clifford Wellman that
the Village Council approve and accept the applications for licenses to
operate filling stations within the Village of Brooklyn Center for the year
1957 to the following applicants:
Lane's D.X. Service, 6900 Osseo Road
Burlingame Standard Service, 57th Ave. & Highway #100
Howe, Inc., 4821 Xerxes Avenue North
Motion carried.
Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Wayne Gageby to accept
and approve the following applications for garbage hauling licenses, subject
to receiving their bonds:
Boyer Garbage Service - -- Woodlake Sanitary Service,Inc.
Motion carried,
Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the
Village Council approve and accept the applications for retail off -sale non -
intoxicating malt liquors licenses for the following applicants:
McGrath Grocery, 5845 Lyndale Avenue North
Klein Foods, 5712 Morgan Avenue North
Lane & Ernst, 6912 Osseo Road
Motion carried.
Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Russ Jones that the
Village Council approve the following salaries for the Liquor Store
employees effective January 1, 1957:
James Fischbach $440 per month
Truman Nelson $375 per month
Richard Jennrich $375 per month
Part -time employees $1.50 per hour
Motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Russ Jones that George
Jenson's salary be increased to $225 per month being effective January 1,1957•
Motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Russ Jones that the
Village Council adopt the following salary schedule being effective
January 1, 1957:
Marjorie Brooks $275 Per montt,'
Ethel Brunswick $230 per month
Joan Brunsell $225 per month
Harriet Bueckner 275 per month
Dale Carry 450 per month
Edwin Peterson 440 per month
Mary Rosenau 11.55 per hour

Robert Leonard $375 per month

Motion carried.
Motion made by.Wayne Gageby and seconded by Allen Lindman the
Village Council release the street bond on Ryden's 2nd Addition atta request
of Gust Holm and Caswell Engineering Company, based upon the recomendatioa
of the Village Engineer. Motion carried.
4 Motion made by Russ Jones and seconded by Clifford Wellman that the
Village Council abate $8.00 in assessments on the A. 0. palmquist property,
the reason being an error in figuring assessments. Motion carried.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Russ Jones tht the
Village Council amend the council minutes of November 13, 1956 in regard to
the eleasi of the bond on Balfany's Northport 4th Addition, this should
releasing
be Bal.fany's Northport Addition. Motion carrieds
Member Allen Lindmsn int-roduced the following rtsolutioa and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION AUT$ORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF
AUTHORM TO CONSTRUCT BUILDINGS ON
UN=SI= LMS
WEMMS, pursuant to the condaMXtioh proceedings instituted by the
Village of Brooklyn Center certsip awards were made, one of which was
conditioned upon granting of oert#in authority for the construction
of buildings on undersized lots, and
WHEREAS.. The planning @omisst= has considered the granting of
such authority and subsequent thereto the Village Council adopted
the Planning Commission's report, and
WnMEAS, it is desirable that the Council now adopt a resolution
setting forth in more detail the authority given thereunder,
NOW TORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village
of Brooklyn Center, as follows:
1x This resolution relates to the taking of the following
described land for street purposes
The East 30 feet of the South 159 feet of the North 389.7
feet of Lot 8, Auditor's Subdivision No. 25
The West 4 feet of the South 159 feet of the North 389.7 feet
of the Southwest quarter of the Northeast quarter of Section
34, Township 119, Range 21.
The East 30 feet of the S 74.5 feet of the North 464.2 feet
of Lot 8, Audikr's Subdivision No. 25 East of the road.
The West 30 feet of the South 74.5 feet of the North 464.2
feet of that part of the Southwest quarter of the Northeast
quarter of Section 34, Township 119, Range 21, lying West
of the East 1225 feet excepting the road.
The West 26 feet of the South 84 feet of the North 315.2 feet
of the East 90 feet of the West 94 feet of the Southwest Quarter # d ,
of the Northeast quarter of Section 34, Township 119, Range 21.
The West 26 feet of the South 744 feet of the North 389.7
feet of that part of the Southwest quarter of the Northeast
quarter lying West of the East 1225 feet thereof and East
of the West 4 feet thereof.
2. Authority is hereby given with reference to the tracts which
remain after the taking of the land described in paraV.Vh 1 of this
resolution as follows:
There remains on the East side of said road a tract of land
having the approximate dimensions of 64 feet facing on
664 Avenue and 223.5 feet on the East side of France Avenue.
There remains on the West side of said proposed road tracts
from which three lots could be obtained facing on aid road,
each of which would have a frontage of between 70 and 75 feet.
There is hereby granted authority to construct improvements upon
the lots on the East and West side of said proposed road, and its
authority shall have the effect of waiving the requirement of a 75 foot
frontage on the easterly tract and permit a frontage of 64 feet and
on the land to the west of said road permitting a frontage of 70 to
75 feet so that the lesser frontages are deemed to be sufficient
compliance with the ordinances of the village, Said authority shall
run with the land and be available all ersons who may hereafter

acquire or own said propertye
The granting of this authority is intended to comply in all
respects with the requirements of the alternative award as set forth
in the Report of the Commissioners dated September 21, 1956.
