HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956 01-25 CCM Regular Session 77 Minutes of the proceeding of the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center in the County of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, including all accounts audited by said Council January 250 1956 The Village Council met in regular session and was called to order by William N. Super, Mayor, at 8:15 p.m. The following members were present: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Allen Lindman, Wayne Gageby and H. R. Jones. The minutes of the meetings of January 11 and January 18 were read and approved. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by H R. Jones to approve the election and appointment of John Linner as Fire Marshal for the Village of Brooklyn Center for the year 1956. Motion carried. Motion made by H. R. Jones and seconded by Wayne Gageby to compen- sate John Li,nner, Fire Marshal, in the amount of fifty per cent of all Service Station license fees plus $25.00 per month mileage. lotion carried. Member Wayne Gageby introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION DEFERRING ACTION ON PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows: 1. That the Village Council defer action on the 'continued public hearing on petition for sanitary sewer laterals on pro- ! posed France, Grimes and Halifax Avenues North from 69th to 73rd Avenue until the next regular meeting of the Village Council. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Allen Lindman and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor thereof: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Allen Lindman, Wayne Gageby and H. R. Jones; and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Motion made by Clifford Wellman and seconded by Allen Lindman to deny the claim of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Schultz, 5700 Bryant Avenue North. Motion carried. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by H. R. Jones to ac- cept application for Non- Intoxieating Malt Liquors License from Marvin H. Nelson and Alex Sutherland, and public hearing be set for February 14, 1956, and due notice published. Motion carried. Member Allen Lindman moved the adoption of an ordinance as follows: AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE INSPECTION AND REMOVAL OF HAZARDOUS FIRE CONDITIONS AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF The foregoing motion having been seconded by member H. R. Jones, ,vote was taken thereon, and the following voted in favor thereof: William N. Super, Allen Lindman, Clifford Wellman, Wayne Gageby and H. R. Jones, and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said ordinance was de- clared duly passed and adopted. Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by H. R. Jones to ac- cept the petition submitted by the business men of Brooklyn Shopping Center i for installation of a street light at the corner of 69th and Osseo Road, one approximately 100 yards north of said intersection, and one approximately 100 yards south of said intersection, and that said petition be given due i consideration. Motion carried. Motion made by H. R. Jones and seconded by Allen Lindman to ac- cept applications for licenses as follows: Service Station License from Frank L. Riedel, DRA Riedel's "66" Service; Garbage Collector's Lidense from Clover M. Boyer, dba Boyer's Garbage Service; and that said licenses'be approved and issued to above parties. Motion car - ried. Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Clifford Wellman to re- lease certified check of A. J. Spanjers Co. in the amount of $250.00 covering street grading on Lilac Drive, to Morgan Avenues North. Motion car- ried. Motion made by H. R. Jones and seconded by Allen Lindman to extend for one year Street Bond No. 236693 of Pearson Brothers on Pearson's North - port 3rd Addition. Motion carried. Motion made by Allen Lindman to commit the Village of Brooklyn Center to make the following improvements in accordance with the resolution hereto- fore identified as Improvement Commitments for VA Loan Purposes. Said resolu- tion shall have inserted in it the following: Property to be improved: Homedale First Addition Estimated cost: $2,354.83 Date of completion: 12 months Improvements to be made: Grading, graveling and oil stabilizing'of Kyle and 64th Avenues within the boundaries of this plat Builder Homedale Builders, Inc. The foregoing motion was duly seconded by Clifford Wellman, and all Members present voting in favor thereof, the motion was carried. Motion made by Allen Lindman to commit the Village of Brooklyn Center to make the following improvements in accordance with the resolution heretofore identified as Improvement Commitments for VA Loan Purposes. Said resolution shall have inserted in it the following: Property to be improved: Bergstrom's Delphian Gardens 2nd Addition Estimated cost: $750.00 DateLof completion: 12 months Improvements to be made: Grading, graveling and oil stabilizing of all streets within the boundaries of this plat Builder Kenneth L Bergstrom The foregoing motion was duly seconded by Clifford Wellman, and all members present voting in favor thereof, the motion was carried. Motion made by H. R. Jones and seconded by Clifford Wellman to accept the petition presented by Homedale Builders, Inc. for sanitary sewer, Kyle and June Avenues from 63rd to 64th Avenues North. Motion carried. Motion made by H R. Jones and seconded by Wayne Gageby to pay dues in the amount of $5.00 to Suburban Building Department Administrators. Motion carried. I Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Wayne Gageby to release Bond No. 16- 185 -54, in the amount of $12,000.00, covering street work in Balfany's Northport lst Addition, providing a certified check for $1500.00 is deposited to guarantee completion of the aforementioned work. Motion carried. Motion made by Allen Lindman and seconded by Wayne Gageby to cancel out check for $500.00 payable to Public Works Equipment Company, Inc. for repairs on FWD. Motion carried. The bills set forth on the schedule attached to these minutes and made a part hereof entitled, "The Bills Audited and Ordered Paid at the Meeting of -January 25, 1956 ", were audited and ordered paid.
