Minutes of the proceeding of the Village
Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center
in the County of Hennepin and State of
Minnesota
March 19, 1957.
The Village Council met in special session and was called to order by
William N. Super, Mayor, at 8:15 p.m.
Roll Call: William N. Super, Carl Carlson, Clifford Wellman, Wayne
Gageby, and Russ Jones were present.
Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Clifford Wellman to approve
the minutes of the special meeting of March 5, 1957- The minutes were approved
as recorded. Motion carried.
The Mayor announced that the Council was met to receive, open, and
consider bids for Sanitary Sewer and Water Main Improvement Projects No.'s
1957 -1, 1957 -2, 1957 -11, 1957 -15, 1957 -4, 1957 -5, 1957- 12,and 1957 -14.
An affidavit was presented shoring publication of advertisement for
bids in accordance with law and ordered placed on fVl.e.
The sealed bids which had been received were then presented. These
were opened, examined, and found to be as follows.

Member Wayne Gageby introduced the following resolution and moved its
adoption:
RESOLUTION TABLING FURTHER ACTION ON BIDS
BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn
Center, Minnesota, that further action on the bids received for `
Sanitary Sewer and Water Main Improvement Projects No.'s 1957 -1,
1957 -2, 1957 -11, 1957 -15, 1957 -40 1957 -5, 1957 -12, and 1957 -14,
be tabled for further consideration, successful bidder to be
notfied at a later date.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member lifford w
C Wellman, and upon vote being. taken thereon, the following voted
in favor thereof: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Carl Carlson, Wayne
Gageby, and Russ Jones; and the following voted against the same: None;
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
The Mayor announced that the Council was met to receive, open, and
consider bids for Storm Sewer Improvement No's. 1956 -58 and 1957 -9.
An Cfidavit was presented showing publication of advertisement for bids
in accordance with law and ordered placed on file.
The sealed bids Which hsd been received were then presented. These were
opened, examined, and found to be as follows:

Member Clifford Wellman introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:

Member Wayne Gageby introduced the following resolution and moved its
adoption:
RESOLUTION TABLING FURTM ACTION ON BIDS
BE IT MWMVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn
Center, Mirszesota, that further action on the bids received for
Sanitary Sewer Improvement No. 1957 -6, 1957 -7: 1957 -8, and 1957 -10,
be tabled for further consideration, successful_ bidder to be notified
at a later date.

Member Clifford Wellman introduced the ordinance entitled
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUILDING CODS
ORDINANCE TO REPEAL EaSTING FEE CHARGES
AND ESTABLISH NEW FEE SCHEDULES
and moved its adoption. The motion for the adoption of ' the f
ordinance was duly seconded by member Carl Carlson, and upon vote
taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: William N. Super, Carl
Carlson, Clifford Wellman, Wayne Gageby, and Russ Jones; and the following
voted against the same: None; whereupon said ordinance was declared duly
passed and adopted.
Motion made by Clifford Wellman and seconded by Russ des to# the
Village abate the special assessment taxes for storm sewer, special asment
fund 1956 -a-•2„ on the following parcels of land: Lots 11+ through A. block 2,
and Lots 3 AIA '4,, ; Block 6, Wangstad's Brooklyn Terrace Addition.
The Village Engineer is instructed to mark the records, so that Uo
above parcels of land are properly assessed when the storm sewer is ins ,ad,
due to the fact that they are not in regular on the map. Motion.
carried.
Mayor William N. Super made the following appointments for the
Recreation Commission, retroactive to January 1, 1957:
{ Leslie Hagen 'Perm of two years
William Anthony Term of two years
Motion made by Clifford Wellman and seconded by Russ Jones that the appointments
made by William N. Super be accepted. Motion carried.

Motion made by Clifford Wellman and seconded by Russ Jones that the
Village Council approve the recommendation of the Recreation Commission of the
appointment of Eugene Nagel as Recreational Director at a salary of $5800
per year and $300 mileage allowance per year.
Motion made by Russ Jones and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the
Village Council move the final plat of Garden City 3rd Addition; subject
to all restrictions of the platting ordinance and receiving bond. Motion
carried.
Motion made by Russ Jones and seconded by Wayne Gageby to adjourn.
Motion carried.
