Council of the Village of Brooklyn Center
in the County of Hennepin and State of
Minnesota
June 4, 1957
The Village Council met in special session and was called to order by
William N. Super, Mayor, at 8:20 P.M.
Roll Call: William N. Super, Carl Carlson, Clifford Wellman, Wayne
Gageby and Russ Jones.
Motion by Clifford Wellman and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the
Council minutes of the special session of May 21, 1957 be modified to read as
follows:
"Motion made by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Clifford Wellman
to approve the final plat of Grandview Place 2nd Addition;
subject to the following restrictions:
(Item b should read): Building is prohibited on Lots 13
through 16, Block 3 and Lots 10 through 13, Block 2,
until such time storm sewer is available for drainage."
Motion carried.
Motion by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Clifford Wellman that the Council
minutes of the special session of May 21, 1957 be approved as recorded. Motion
carried.
The Mayor announced that the meeting was open for the consideration of
proposed Water Main Improvement No. 1957-31•
The Clerk produced an affidavit of publication of notice of hearing on
the proposed improvement showing two weeks' publication thereof in the official
newspaper, the last publication being on May 30, 1957, which affidavit was exa-
mined and found satisfactory and ordered Placed on file.
The Mayor then called upon all property owners present to present argu-
ments either for or against the proposed improvement. After hearing and consider-
ing all objections, member Clifford Wellman introduced the following resolution
and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION POSTPONING ACTION ON
PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT 19%T-31
BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn
Center, Minnesota, as follows:
1. That the Village Council postpone action on the public
hearing on Water Main Improvement No. 1957 -31, water main on
Halifax and Indiana Avenue North from 69th Avenue North to
72nd: Avenue North, and 71st Avenue North and 72nd Avenue North
from Halifax Avenue to June Avenue North, until June ll, 1957•
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Carl Carlson, and upon vote being taken thereon the 'following voted in
favor thereof: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Carl Carlson, Wayne Gageby
and Russ Jones; and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said
resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.

sewer on Halifax and Indiana Avenue North from 69th Avenue
North to 72nd Avenue North, and 71st Avenue North and 72nd
Avenue North from Halifax Avenue to June Avenue North, until
June 11, 1957.

BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows:
1. Thy the Village Council of the Village of Brooklyn
Center, postpone action on the public hearing on Storm Sewer
Improvement No, 1957 -34, until June 11, 1957•
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Carl Carlson, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in
favor thereof: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman, Carl Carlson, Wayne Gageby
and Russ Jones; and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said
resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
With respect to Improvements 1957 -31, 1 957-32 and 1957.34., the Council
directed the Engineer to notify the following parties of the Council action post-
poning the decision on said improvements until the meeting of June 11, 1957:
William Bobendrier, Joe Miller, Catholic Church and six property owners abutting
May Avenue.
Motion by Wayne Gageby and seconded by Clifford Wellman that the Council
postpone action on the special permit of J. P. Melberg for a shopping center until
June 11, 1957. Motion carried.

Motion by Clifford Wellman and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the
Village Council, discharge William Klatte as - per recon mendation of the.
Village Police Dej5artment.. Motion 'carried.
Motion by Carl Carlson and seconded by Wayne Gageby that the Village
Council make 53rd Avenue North and France Avenue North a four -way stop. Stop
signs to be erected. Motion carried.
Member Carl Carlson introduced the following resolution and moved its
adoption:
RESOLDTION DESIGNATING
ROAD RESTRICTIONS.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of
Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as follows:
1. That the Village Council duly restrict France Avenue'
from 50th Avenue North to 57th Avenue North, and 57th and 58th
Avenues North from France Place to Halifax Avenue to five ton
gross weight load limit, as per Section 25 -301 of the Village
ordinance.
2. The Council finds and declared that such restrictions
are necessary for the safety and welfare of those residing along
said streets and for the protection of said streets from ex-
cessive damage.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
member Clifford Wellman, and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in
favor thereof: William N. Super, Clifford Wellman., Carl Carlson, Wayne Gageby
and Russ Jones; and the following voted against the same: None; whereupon said
resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
Motion by Russ Jones and seconded by Wayne Gageby that Ethel Brunswick's
salary be increased $10.00 per month as of June 3, 1957. Motion carried.
Motion by Clifford Wellman and secondedby Wayne Gageby to adjourn.
Motion carried.
