Item 5 Ordinance Prohihiting Motor Vehicles in City Parks The attached ordinance prohibiting motor veh Iles in City Parks and public open spaces was first read on June 12, 1972, published on June 22, 1972 and is offered this evening for s3cond reading and adoption. Disposition_ r Item 6,, Ordinance Requiring Fencing Around Outdoor Pools (7.45 P.M,) The attached ordinance requ. ;ring fencing arourid outdoor swimming pools has been considered on two previous occasions. Testimony has been subraitted by those advocating stringent pool protection requirements and by those representing swimming pool owners. In addition, information has been furnished regarding fencing practices In other communi.t es and related accident Incidents. It is recommended that the attached ordinance draft recommends a reasonable set of regulations to accomplish the objective of inh +bfting inadvertent and unintentional access which could result in personal In ury. • Disposition Item S, Recess with Brooklyn Historical Society (9.15 P.M.) The Brooklyn Historical Society has invited City Council members to shard Its meeting recess with them at their old fashioned ice dream social and band concert adjacent to the Community Center. A one- hour recess is suggested. Disposition _ Item 9. Resolutions Accepting Work, The Director of Public Works is recommending of €fcial acceptance o f fourteen construction projects which were completed in the Industrial Park daring 197:1 He will be prepared Monday evening to describe Nae projects and answer any questfons related thereto. Establishment of Election Pirec incis Previously developed proposals to realign Brooklyn Center election precincts were renderad obsole by the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling against the local Federal District Court Reapportionment Plan. The local Federal. District Gout has recently issued a new reappor- tionment plan which has a similar effect to their original plan-- portions of Brooklyn Center are in i:wo different house districts. The new reappor°tionmant plan also granted a.30-day extension to midi -July to permit local governments to realign their election precincts as they may desire.
