HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995 06-13 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 13, 1995 PRESENT: Kragness, Ditty, Bergeland, Roen, Dorff, Jastrow, Neilson, Cohen, Kragness, Holcolmb, Graham and LaCrosse. The meeting was called to order at 7:37 a.m. FINANCIAL REPORT: Zastrow reported a balance of $13,692.83 as of June 13, 1995. Dorff reported he has received 24 contribution of about $900. Graham said junior royalty hasn't had too much luck. PICNIC/GAMES: Dorff has 6 people to volunteer. He needs more. 7:52 a.m. Buse arrived ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: Holcomb is losing volunteers. Kragness said she has some names of people who have said they would like to help. Holcomb requested a refund to a mini donut vendor because it is a duplicate. She said Pane In The Glass has requested a refund. There was a motion by Bergeland, seconded by Ditty not to issue a refund as long as the contract is signed. Motion carried. Holcomb said Bingo The Clown is interested in being at the arts & crafts fair, parade and fishing contest. DANCE: Kragness still needs to order food. FINANCE: To date there are $4,300 in donations. HALL OF FAME: They will having their program the same night as the dance. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Buse said there will be Dairy Queen ice cream. Everything is set. Neilson said someone from Brookdale had requested a barbershop quartet for the event. LaCrosse said she had already arranged for the community band to perform. Buse thought adding 1 a barbershop quartet would be hard at this late date and she will talk to the person at Brookdale. Neilson will emcee. The exact schedule will be determined next week. JUNIOR ROYALTY: Graham said she has 13 candidates; 3 didn't show. They were in their first parade last week. PUBLICITY: LaCrosse showed the committee the cable television ad. She said the display ads have been placed with the Sun Post. She asked if we still wanted to place a classified ad for approximately $63 to go in Sunday's boutique section. After discussion, there was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Ditty to place the classified ad. Motion carried. Holcomb would like 1,000 arts & crafts flyers. SUNDAY IN CENTRAL PARK: LaCrosse said the promotional campaign and the Hall of Fame will have presentations during the intermission of the group The Foundation. She asked Graham if the junior royalty could be introduced at 6:50 p.m. TALENT CONTEST: Neilson said he it was a good idea to cancel the Talent Contest. He suggested looking at Brookale for next year. Motion carried. FINANCE/BUDGET: It was reported that Marquette bank is down this year and Firstar is up. New contributors include Brookdale Car Wash. Cohen is considering sending out a letter this week to those contributors who generally doante but haven't yet this year. Holcomb asked if she could use the white booth. LaCrosse said she would make the arrangements. 8:30 a.m. Swanson arrived. LaCrosse asked what the admission charge is for the coronation. Graham said $3.00. PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGN: The Bingo card was in the Post last week. They are soliciting prizes. Swanson said a press conference has been moved to the Rockin' Hollywoods concert and will be held during intermission. The float will be decorated during the ice cream social. The banners will be held during the water ski show. OLD BUSINESS: Kragness said LaCrosse had gotten prices from Viking Trophies for 2 permanent plastic name badges. The cost is $154.95 for each board member. There was a motion by Holcomb, seconded by Bergeland to purchase the name badges. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS: Kragness said she talked to Kristin Mann and she is interested in becoming a board member. There was a motion by Holcomb, seconded by Zastrow to appoint Kristen Mann to a 3 year term to expire on 12/31/97. Motion carried.
