HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995 06-20 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 20, 1995 PRESENT: Neilson, Bergeland, Roen, Ditty, Dorff, Jastrow, Graham, Cohen, Slupske, Holcomb, Kragness and LaCrosse. The meeting was called to order at 7:44 a.m. FINANCIAL REPORT: Zastrow reported a balance of $14,161.29 as of June 20, 1995. WATER SKI SHOW: Slupske reported the water ski show will cost EBD $400. His sponsor backed out. He contacted Dale Tile and they wanted a waiver so we can't use the parking lot. He asked Holcomb to do face painting. He needs help directing traffic and will make sure the neighbor letters are distributed. 7:49 a.m. Nelson arrived. ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: Holcomb passed out schedules yesterday at area businesses. She also got gift certificates from several merchants, including Dots, McDonalds. Burger King said they will have something today. She has not heard from Pizza Hut this year. DANCE: Kragness said the food is arranged. Mann is handling the decorations. 7:55 a.m. Buse arrived. JUNIOR ROYALTY: The 1994-95 junior royalty introduced themselves and thanked the committee for a good year. Graham said they would be going to children's hospital later in the day. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: There are about 50 band members. Buse said the first row of chairs will be reserved for junior royalty. The float will be decorated during the ice cream social. Neilson would like an agenda. 1 FISHING CONTEST: LaCrosse said she has not received the prizes yet. Ditty said he will call him. PARADE: Ditty reported 92 units. Ditty said he got a call from a senior building who wanted to have spots on the bleachers reserved for them. LaCrosse said there are no officers available for this. She said if Ditty wished to do this, it would have to be with parade volunteers. Ditty said he would call them and tell them no. He will need two cushmans. PICNIC/GAMES: Dorff reported more prizes than ever. He said he needs a list of prizes. LaCrosse said she has a couple of leaders who would be interested in working. Dorff said he doesn't need any help from recreation staff. He would like to send out letters to companies thanking them. PUBLICITY: LaCrosse said she has gotten many calls due to the banner hanging on County Road 10. Hopefully the posters have all been distributed. TEEN BOP DANCE: Nelson said she still has a few more businesses to hit. She said Patches The Clown is self insured. The substation float application will be turned in. FUN RUN/WALK: Buse said the walk will not go through Brookdale because of insurance. She said she would like to have the committee look into more insurance. LaCrosse said we carry only spectator insurance. The recreation department does not carry participant insurance either. Buse said people could sue the committee. LaCrosse said she will call a couple other communities to see what they do for insurance and she will call our insurance company to see if they would come and speak at a future meeting. FINANCE/BUDGET: So far we have received $4,300 in donations. We have not received the Lions Club donation yet. Cohen said we should get another grand. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS: Holcomb said she had a very angry crafter. This was the person who had cancelled and the committee had made the decision she would not get a refund. Holcomb said she wanted her to send her a copy of the application because she wanted to see where it said, no refund. However, she also accused Holcomb of changing the application before it was sent to her. She has threatened to contact the city attorney. LaCrosse said she has reported this incident to Charlie Hansen in the finance department just in case. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, July 11, 1995, 7:30 a.m., City Hall.
