next year. The date will be determined in February and will be selected on the basis of the 50's

going to try having a street dance in front of the Civic Center.

JUNIOR ROYALTY:
Graham said one of the children placed as vice-commodore in the
Minneapolis Aquatennial. The junior royalty has just finished the parade season. They had a
Halloween party. Graham is requesting payment for float storage for November through May at a
cost of $175. She said one of the goals is to focus on families. She said they have a Valentines
Day party planned at the community center for past and present royalty. They will also be inviting
1
other communities. They will be having a holiday program at Maranatha.
PARADE:
No report.
PICNIC/GAMES:
Dorff reported this event is on the schedule.
Dorff passed out a sheet of suggestions to be used when making business contacts. Cohen said
we want to make sure not to solicit a business twice. Cohen said he talked to the manager of
Sears and he said he gets a lot of requests but said maybe they should contribute more in
Brooklyn Center. Cohen drafted a letter of thanks to contributors. These will go out to all
businesses who made a cash contribution in 1995.

COMMUNITY CENTER 25TH
: LaCrosse said Arnie Mavis has requested some extra money
next year to run some events during the week of Earle Brown Days.
OLD BUSINESS:
Dorff passed out a sheet of requirements for the door prize
drawings. He said it will involve a little extra work on the part of the committees. Holcomb said
we should check with the State of Minnesota to see if it is legal. She suggested holding a raffle
instead. LaCrosse asked if some businesses might be upset if money was made on their donation.
Cohen said it is all in how it is solicited. LaCrosse will call the attorney generals office and find
out what the guidelines are for charging for the door prize tickets and/or holding raffles.
PAYMENT OF BILLS
:
Minnesota Arts Directory Arts & Crafts Fair ad $200.00
Glen Morrisette Junior Royalty float storage 175.00
Brooklyn Center Park & Rec. Junior Royalty Constitution Hall rental 40.00
There was a motion by Holcomb, seconded by Cohen to pay these bills. Motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
Cohen said we should not cut into our reserve. If there is anything
we can cut back on, we should think about it. We cannot subsidize anymore activities. If
someone comes in with a good idea, they are going to have to raise their own money by soliciting
a business we currently do not contact. Cohen asked the board to take a stand on this issue by
drafting up a budget board position to include reserving the right to cut back on committee
2
expenses. The committee agreed.
NEXT MEETING:
Tuesday, January 9, 1996, City Hall, Conference Room A.
ADJOURN:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:43 a.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Sue LaCrosse
