Earle Brown Days
Meeting Minutes
January 9, 1996
PRESENT:
Zastrow, Cohen, Bergeland, Neilson, Holcomb, Roen, Nelson and
LaCrosse.
The meeting was called to order at 7:37 a.m. by Cohen.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Holcomb, seconded by
Zastrow to approve the November 14 minutes. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
: Zastrow reported a balance of $8,832.41 as of January 9,
1996. Last year, at this time, there was a balance of $9,289.12.
There was a motion by Neilson, seconded by Nelson to pay the City of Brooklyn Center
$8.64 for postage. Motion carried.
ARTS & CRAFTS:
Holcomb said letters will be going out soon and she will be
updating the mailing list.
CAR SHOW:
No report.
DANCE:
Cohen asked who was going to chair the event. LaCrosse said she
thought Mann. She will call her. The Heritage Center will not be used. The site will be
in front of the Civic Center with Constitution Hall as the back up in case of bad weather.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
No report.
JUNIOR ROYALTY:
No report.
PARADE:
Cohen asked if the prize money should be cut. LaCrosse will call
Ditty.

PICNIC/GAMES:
No report.
PUBLICITY:
LaCrosse suggested cutting the cable television ads. She
did not believe it was worth the cost. The board said to go ahead and cut the cable
ads. Bergeland asked if we could get a copy. LaCrosse said she had one. Nelson
suggested purchasing another banner. She also asked if they could be put up a week
earlier. Neilson suggested a banner be put up somewhere along Highway 100.
LaCrosse suggested taking out the Star Tribune ads again. It doesnt seem like we
got a very good response from the community papers.
Holcomb would like to put up a sign board at the corner of Earle Brown Drive & Summit
and another in front of Target. LaCrosse will check on ordinance regulations. Holcomb
would like to send out or page flyers to all the crafters. They can pass these out at
other shows. Nelson said committee members should bring their own tape to put up
posters. Cohen reminded everyone not to solicit the same businesses.
SUB STATION:
Nelson said they will have a meeting in February. They will
brainstorm ideas for something other than a teen dance. They want something more
family based. They have a letter board to promote events.
SUNDAY IN CENTRAL PARK:
No report.
TALENT CONTEST:
Neilson said unless we can move to Brookdale, it should be
canceled.
COMMUNITY CENTER 25TH
: LaCrosse said the recreation staff will brainstorm
ideas. There will probably be an event every day during EBD.
NEW BUSINESS:
Holcomb said she would like a letter to potential board
members from the board inviting them to a meeting. Cohen said it should include an
informational sheet. The sheet should contain information on what is involved. People
should also be invited to donate time to be on a committee.
Where is Tony Ditty? Everyone has been asked to report any Ditty sightings.
