No report.
CAR SHOW:
Nerburn blames the club for not getting word out. He said the word is not getting
out at any of the shows. He wants to see more effort put on this. Attendance was down, but
he would like to keep it at Brookdale. Maybe they could put up a sign on Brooklyn Boulevard
that day. He would like to get in Brooklyn Parks parade.
FINANCE:
Cohen said we dont want to over solicit. He wants to approach Target. Cohen
wants to discuss what amount of money we need to operate. He suggests we do this at
another meeting.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Graham said they ran out of ice cream. The junior ambassador
children did not receive any. Holcomb said everyone stayed around during both groups.
Neilson said since the talent contest has been eliminated, he would be willing to work with
Brookdale.
Slupske said a decade ago they had a speaker come to a board of directors meeting. The
speaker said to have as many events as possible located in the same area. He thinks our
events are too spread out.
ARTS & CRAFTS:
Holcomb reported the exhibitors thought the advertising was excellent.
They had 224 people sign up for the door prize and they drew new people because of the Star
Tribune ads.
8:10 a.m. Youngberg arrived.
Holcomb said attendance was down. They had 62 booth spaces. The request is to do the
show on Saturday and Sunday next year.
Slupske said, excluding the parade and Sunday In Central Park, all other events should be
1
centrally located. Cohen said the key is to get volunteer help and keep it going with resources
and the people we have.
Holcomb said other suggestions are to have a catered community picnic, ice cream social
Friday night, ran into 4th of July week, crafter demonstrations, puppet show, sail boat,
demonstrations in dance, gymnastics, karate, and put a roof on information booth.
