Meeting Minutes
June 18, 1996
PRESENT:
Dorff, McCarthy, Neilson, Roen, Cohen, Graham, Zastrow, Holcomb, Ditty and
LaCrosse. The meeting was called to order at 7:35 a.m. by Dorff.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Ditty seconded by Roen to approve
the minutes from May June 11. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
: Zastrow reported a balance of $17,562.06 as of June 18, 1996.
BINGO:
Ditty will let LaCrosse know if he needs a cash box. Dorff asked him if he would
want a gift certificate to use as a prize rather than always giving cash. Ditty said yes.
ARTS & CRAFTS:
Holcomb reported 46 crafters and 7 food vendors with a couple
more coming in. She is trying to contact Brookdale Ford to put up a sign. She also thought
about trying to get one in front of TCF. She needs volunteers to help put up posters in the
Crystal/New Hope and Columbia Heights/Fridley areas.
CAR SHOW:
McCarthy said she needs a copy of the insurance naming Brookdale as
additional insured. LaCrosse said she already has it and will fax her a copy. McCarthy said
she needs to have a marketing license signed. LaCrosse said she should have George
Nerburn sign it because he is chairman of the committee.
FISHING CONTEST:
LaCrosse asked Ditty if she could get the prizes before the day of
the contest. She also asked permission from the committee to be reimbursed for an additional
1st, 2nd, & 3rd place prize if North Country only donates three sets. The committee said yes.
FINANCE/BUDGET:
Cohen said he would like to send out a follow up letter to those
businesses who have contributed in the past. He drafted a letter. LaCrosse will get it out this
week. Dorff asked if there could be a comparison done from past years. Cohen said there is
not enough time now and this could be something that could be done later.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
The committee worked out the time line to see if both the Brooklyn
Community Band and the Minneapolis Commodores could be accommodated. LaCrosse said
the director of the community band thought there would be too much involved in changing
from one group to the other. He said the band would not mind if they did not perform. Cohen
asked if booth groups could be set up to go. McCarthy said she did not know. Neilson will
meet with Brookdale to see if the area can accommodate both group set ups.
JUNIOR ROYALTY:
Earle Brown Bowl will be sending a bill to LaCrosse. Interviews
begin next week. Dinner will be held next week at Bridgemans. The parents have begun

making the business contacts. Dorff asked everyone who is making business contacts to
prepare a list as they go along. It was suggested that those who are interested could stay
after the meeting and decide where the prizes will go.
PARADE:
Ditty said everything is under control. He said the council cannot use
their convertibles.
PICNIC/GAMES:
Dorff and Neilson will fill help fill water balloons. Neilson said he
was disappointed there were not more volunteers from Rotary. So far Dorff has collected
$1,043 and Neilson $420 in prizes and gift certificates.
PUBLICITY:
LaCrosse said to watch for our ads starting Friday in the Star
Tribune. We will also have information in the festival column on Sunday in the Tribune. The
arts & crafts fair classified was in last Sunday and will appear again next Sunday. Banners
and signs will be going up.
SUBSTATION:
No report.
SUNDAY IN CENTRAL PARK:

No report.

There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Roen to pay these bills. Motion carried.
Dorff said he ordered 14 volunteer t-shirts.
