HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996 06-25 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 25, 1996 PRESENT: Dorff, McCarthy, Neilson, Roen, Cohen, Bergeland, Graham, Zastrow, Holcomb, Ditty and LaCrosse. The meeting was called to order at 7:35 a.m. by Dorff. FINANCIAL REPORT : Zastrow reported a balance of $13,007.04 as of June 25, 1996. BINGO: All set. CAR SHOW: No report. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: McCarthy said it has been decided to use both groups, the band and the Commodores. Neilson said they met and the area by Daytons is adequate because the benches can be moved. LaCrosse passed out the final agenda which showed the Hall of Fame and the introduction of the junior ambassador candidates will be held between the two groups. ARTS & CRAFTS: Holcomb reported 48 booths and 7 food vendors with 5 more coming in. She is meeting with Judith for the floor plan. She has everything covered except for the checks for the entertainment and the donuts. She would like seven door prize gift certificates. FISHING CONTEST: Ditty said they will only donate three sets of prizes. Dorff said he has a 150 packages of Twins Club trading cards and asked if they would like to give them away at the fishing contest. LaCrosse said yes. PARADE: Ditty said everything is set. JUNIOR ROYALTY: The 1995-96 junior ambassadors introduced themselves. The committee thanked them for doing such a wonderful job representing Brooklyn Center this year. 8:05 a.m. Youngberg arrived. FINANCE/BUDGET: Cohen said Cass Screw will donate $250 and Firstar will donate $500. LaCrosse said she did not receive anything from North Memorial. Cohen will call Jerry Pedlar. Someone asked if the Hilton had been contacted. Cohen it should be a personal contact because of it being a new business. Dorff said we should send out the letters early so businesses can budget for it. Cohen said when you are collecting for an occasion like the 75th anniversary, the money comes in easier. He questioned whether we are selling the product well enough. LaCrosse said Target in Plymouth donates all the money for the 1 fireworks. She asked if someone on the committee could meet with a representative at Daytons or Target to find out what part of the Brooklyn Center community receives money. She said they advertise a percentage of profits going back to the community. The most we see is about $100 donation from Target and Daytons. PICNIC/GAMES: Dorff and Neilson have collected about $2,000 worth of prizes and gift certificates from the business community. Some of the other people are still out trying to get their donations. PUBLICITY: LaCrosse said the caps sell for $6 each. She asked if someone would take t-shirts and sell them at the ice cream social and then bring them back to the community center. Zastrow said she would. She will bring the extras to the arts & crafts fair on Friday morning. SUBSTATION: LaCrosse said it does not look good. The movie theater owner decided to show a movie on two different screens and it would not be appropriate for children. She will know for sure later today. SUNDAY IN CENTRAL PARK: No report. 10K & 2 MILE RUN/WALK: Youngberg asked if the engineer would make sure there will be access across 69th. LaCrosse said she has already taken care of it but will confirm with Dave Anderson. Youngberg requested EBD pay for the t-shirts to be reimbursed after July 1. HALL OF FAME: Dorff said the lunch and tour were very nice. Motion carried. Dorff said he ordered 14 volunteer t-shirts. 2 NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, July 23, 7:30 a.m., Conference Room A at City Hall.
