Meeting Minutes
June 3, 1997
PRESENT:
Kuefler, Bergeland, Zastrow, LaFond, Dorff, Milton, Holcomb, Ditty and LaCrosse. The
meeting was called to order at 7:37 a.m. by Dorff.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Ditty, seconded by Holcomb to approve the
minutes of May 20, 1997. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
: Zastrow reported a financial balance of $10,876.84 in checking and $7,500
in a CD as of June 3, 1997.
Business Contacts:
Dorff asked how business contacts were coming along. Ditty said he has
been out a little. Holcomb said she does not have time this year to go out. Dorff said he has been out
and about and has contacted 46 businesses and has received from 27. He said his highest contribution is
from Country Suites valued at $149. Dorff will go to Holcombs businesses. He will call other
committee members.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Holcomb reported she has 43 booths sold. She has one more coming for
sure. She would like to get around 10 more. She needs volunteers.
Car Show:
No Report.
Ice Cream Social:
LaFond asked if we could get larger signs. LaCrosse said she will make
three of each. Bergeland asked for a sign for the open house and Dorff asked for a sign on the fishing
contest and the games. LaCrosse said yes.
Junior Ambassador:
No Report.
Kids Fishing Contest:
No Report.
Parade:
Ditty said there are about 90 units. Everything looks good. The judges area will be at
61st & Dupont. The bands will be instructed to perform a maximum of three minutes for the judges or
there will be penalties. The awards will be presented at the Evergreen soccer field. There are 14 bands,
13 for competition. Brooklyn Center will be the host band.
Picnic/Games:
Dorff said there are no changes. He likes the handout. He said Cohen will be
asking for volunteers at Rotary today. LaCrosse asked what they will be using for a PA. Holcomb
suggested the system she borrowed from the recreation department. Ditty said he knows someone in
Brooklyn Center who has a system. Ditty will call him and LaCrosse will check on their system. Dorff
said he needs the chalking unit, the tarp and three tables. Holcomb said she has a canopy. Bergeland said
it might be nice to use at the registration tables.

Publicity:
LaCrosse said we can put out flags and suggested putting the portable sign from
Broadway Rental in front of the community center also. LaCrosse asked for volunteers to help put up
flags and signs on Friday, June 27. Holcomb suggested putting out the flags on the Tuesday after the
EBD meeting that week. Milton suggested maybe a Burma Shave concept of signs. Someone is needed
to write a jingle.
10K & 2 Mile:
No Report
A Day At The Farm:
Kuefler said said they are finalizing the Highway Patrol and the National Guard.
They are still trying to work out the insurance thing with the hayride. He said they have permission to
put up a plaque at the Heritage Center.
Safety Day:
No Report
OLD BUSINESS:
Ditty has ordered T-shirts, 6 XXL, 18 XL, 12 L & 2 dozen child large. LaCrosse
suggested doubling the adult order. We will be selling them at the open house and Holcomb will sell
them at the ice cream social.
NEW BUSINESS:
Dorff asked if the committee wanted to have the mission statement published,
possibly in the tabloid. LaCrosse said she did not think there was enough room. In fact, we may have to
take some things out. Dorff asked everyone to review the mission statement and maybe it could be
published next year.

There was a motion by Kuefler, seconded by Ditty to pay bills. Motion carried.
