Meeting Minutes
May 20, 1997
PRESENT:
Kuefler, Graham, Bergeland, Zastrow, LaFond, Dorff, Youngberg, Cohen, Milton,
Holcomb, Roen and LaCrosse. The meeting was called to order at 7:34 a.m. by Dorff.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Kuefler, seconded by Roen to approve the
minutes of May 6, 1997. Motion carried.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Holcomb reported she has 43 booths sold. Some people took spaces.
She said there have been requests for face painting booths. She said they have had volunteers doing face
painting but there have not been a lot of children. Holcomb said they may not be able to keep up this
year. LaCrosse suggested taking the person who is going to sell arts & crafts too. Holcomb said a
crafter has called and requested a refund. It is someone who has been in the show before and has a family
wedding to go to. The board approved the refund.
Car Show:
LaCrosse said Nerburn wants a check for $800 for the car show. She gave
the $200 check back to Zastrow. Bergeland said she is looking into additional insured for the parking lot
across from the Heritage Center. They also have asked that someone go through the lot after the show
and clean up paper.
FINANCIAL REPORT
: Zastrow reported a financial balance of $8,860.35 in checking and $7,500
in a CD as of May 20, 1997.
Ice Cream Social:
LaFond reported the Brooklyn Community Band will perform first at 6:30
p.m. There will also be demonstrations by Single Circle and Happy Face Square Dance Clubs. Ice cream
will be provided by Daytons.
Junior Ambassador:
Graham said the parent orientation meeting was held last night. There are 14
children registered. She said she has two participants who have needed financial assistance in order to
participate. She said she has a concern if one or both of these children are selected because they may not
be able to pay for an outfit. Cohen said not to worry about it unless it happens. We would work
something out to provide a scholarship.
Kids Fishing Contest:
LaCrosse said Brook Park Dental called and would like to sponsor the
fishing contest both financially and with volunteers. She said they will help with check in and in giving
out the awards and prizes.
Parade:
LaCrosse said there are about 75 entries and we need fillers for the bands.
Picnic/Games:
Dorff said there is support from Rotary and he has a good start on businesses.

Publicity:
LaCrosse passed out a publicity proposal. Ads will be takenb out in the Star
Tribune, Osseo/Maple Grove Press and the Sun Post. Residents in Brooklyn Center have received
information in the last City Watch and will receive it again in the next City Watch. Flyers went out to all
children in Brooklyn Center schools. Residents in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park will receive the
tabloid. LaCrosse will also do lots of free press releases. If anyone has further suggestions, they should
call her.
10K & 2 Mile:
Youngberg said the 10K is moving right along. The runners are taking the
flyers out to other runs.
A Day At The Farm:
Kuefler said they are trying to work out the insurance issue.
Safety Day:
LaCrosse said there may not be a canine demonstration. Dave Grass is working on
it.
OLD BUSINESS:
Dorff said he received a tax filing letter from the IRS. The cut off for filing is
$25,000. He said even though we do not reach $25,000, we need to put a dollar amount on items
received as gift certificates and prizes. He estimated $1,500 for last year.

There was a motion by Roen, seconded by Youngberg to pay bills. Motion carried.
