HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998 06-23 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 23, 1998 PRESENT: Bergeland, Dorff, Milton, Ditty, Zastrow, LaFond, Holcomb, Youngberg, Campbell, Cohen, Kuefler, Roen, and LaCrosse The meeting was called to order at 7:37 a.m. by Dorff. Payment of bills: City of Brooklyn Center $186.58 Reimburse craft supplies - Arts & Crafts City of Brooklyn Center 34.46 Paint - Arts & Crafts City of Brooklyn Center 112.76 Reimburse fish contest prizes BHK&R 1,081.50 Insurance Powder Puff Clown Club 200.00 Clowns - Parade  Shriners Antique Cars 180.00 Paid unit - Parade Prize money 4,000.00 Parade There was a motion by Ditty, seconded by Kuefler to approve payment of bills. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Ditty, seconded by Youngberg to approve the minutes of June 16, 1998. Motion carried. FINANCIAL REPORT : Zastrow reported a balance of $11,603.37 in checking and $7,946.24 in one CD and $2,038.41 in another CD. Arts & Crafts: Holcomb said she has 42 paid booths plus 5 food vendors. She has 5 booths on hold for people. There are 13 others who have said they are coming in. She has the potential of 65 booths. She called the National Weather Service. It is supposed to be in the low 90's with late evening showers. She will have the Moon Walk in the center. They need a circuit to themselves. Holcomb said they will deliver at 7 a.m. so there is no interference with the 10k. Pat Milton will make a drawing box. LaCrosse will make a sign for the door prize drawing, coupons for coffee/donuts and vendor coupon for the duck pond. Milton will make beverage coupons. Bergeland will check in food vendors. Zastrow will sit in a chair to check in people. Hall Of Fame: No report. Ice Cream Social: LaFond asked if we would need a table to sell t-shirts. LaCrosse said yes and they will have flyers too. Sharon Paulson will talk briefly, the Junior Ambassadors will talk after the community band. Coda, the house band, will play the remaining of the evening. LaFond will make announcements concerning the rest of the festival events. The event will be held inside.  Kids Fishing Contest: LaCrosse said Brookpark Dental Center will have 6-8 volunteers and will donate $125 toward the prizes. Parade: Ditty asked for some additional signs for the judges stand and band buses. The boy scouts 1 dropped out and there will be a Model A with teddy bears. Dorff, Milton, Holcomb, Bergeland, Kuefler, Ditty, Kent and LaCrosse will ride in the parade. Ditty moved Peacemaker to #15. Picnic/Games: Dorff reported a value of $2,966 in donations and they are not all in. He will have 11 Rotarians to help. Ditty said he can help. He needs a list of everything that has been donated. He needs help in putting out the money in the center of the field. Dorff said he can announce from the bandstand. He has filled 140 balloons. LaCrosse said the maintenance staff can move the balloons to the stage for him. Publicity: LaCrosse said there has been a good response to the ads this year. She said we are falling down on getting posters up in the community and she would like to see us do a better job next year. Sunday In Central Park: All set. 10K/2 mi. Walk: Youngberg asked how many registrations there were. LaCrosse said she did not know off hand. Everything else is set. Year 2000: Cohen talked to the city manager and he told him it is on the agenda for the 1st meeting in July. Youngberg suggested everyone from the committee attend. Cohen passed out a form for people in the community to fill out to show us what kind of interest there is. It was decided we would pass these out at various events. Old Business: Dorff asked when it would be appropriate to contact the businesses in regards to a city wide sale, his ABCDEFG idea. Cohen suggested Campbell work with Chamber members to see if there is an interest. Payment Of Additional Bills: Bunker Hills $140.00 Parade unit Scott Johnson Leave open Coffee, donuts exhibitor - Arts & Crafts Pat Holcomb 12.23 Long distance calls & Refund overpayment to exhibitor There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Youngberg to approve payment. Motion carried. New Business: None NEXT MEETING:Tuesday, July 14, 7:30 a.m., Conference Room A ADJOURN: There was a motion by Ditty, seconded by Holcomb to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
