FINANCIAL REPORT
: No report
Arts & Crafts:
LaCrosse reported she and Pat met and put together the following entertainment
for the two days. There will be a moon walk on both Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday there will be a
childrens group at 1 p.m., a strolling magic show at 3 p.m. and a recreation area where children can
make craft projects. Also, with a purchase from an arts & crafts fair exhibitor, they can receive a ticket
to try the duck pond or the putting green. She said Tony Kuefler got about 350 Sesame Street characters
from Blockbuster Video which will be used at the duck pond. Maybe swim passes can be given out for
the putting green. She said she received a call from the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and they would
like to provide some free entertainers as long as they can pass out literature and coupons. The committee
said yes.
Hall Of Fame:
Kuefler said the luncheon is planned.
Ice Cream Social:
No report.
Kids Fishing Contest:
Dorff said he is trying to get something from Bridgemans to pass out to
the children. He told them he would be willing to pay for it.
Parade:
Ditty said they are getting more filler. They will go to 69th Ave. to Evergreen School.
Bergeland said that Bunker Hills Stable usually charges $280 for a unit. Because this would be a
promotion for them, they will charge us $140. There was a motion from Ditty, seconded by Kuefler to
approve Bunker Hills to provide transportation for the committee in the parade. Motion carried.
LaCrosse suggested it be one of the last units so that Henry can be in a car as the Hall of Fame recipient.
It would also give Tony Ditty an opportunity to be in the parade. LaCrosse said Bunker Hills would not
need to get there early since it would be one of the last units. Bergeland will make the arrangements.
Ditty said he would like to have a set of bleachers at 62nd & Dupont facing east for the judges. He
would like Annette to do commentary again. Cohen asked Ditty what they are going to do about the
gaps in the parade. Ditty said it says on the band letter this is a band competition, not a field competition.
He said there will be more written on the confirmation letter. He said in talking to the band judges, they
do not deduct points for performing too long or leaving gaps in the parade. This is up to him.
Picnic/Games:
Dorff said he would like to provide soft drinks for the people working at the Kids
1
Fishing Contest. He has contacted about 20 people and has received lots of certificates. He said he is on
schedule and it looks good.
Publicity:
LaCrosse passed around the Summer Guide ad which will appear in the Star
Tribune next Sunday. She asked people to take flyers and posters and as they get out to businesses,
please ask them to put them out. LaCrosse highlighted the SCOPE program at Brookdale. We would
need to provide volunteers for our booth for one weekend in July. Cohen said committee members are
given cards and encouraged to give them out to family members and friends. As these people spend
money, Brookdale donates some money to the agency. He said the Charitable Foundation made quite a
bit. Kuefler asked LaCrosse her thoughts on this. She said there are so many organizations in Brooklyn
Center in need of the money and Earle Brown Days is not a charity organization. She suggested Earle
Brown Days not be a part of it so that other organizations can receive more money. Also, Earle Brown
Days will be over and there would be nothing to promote. There was a motion by Kuefler, seconded by
Bergeland to yield to the non profit organizations. Motion carried.
Sunday In Central Park:
No report.
10K/2 mi. Walk:
No report.
Year 2000:
Kuefler passed out a plan of action put together by him and Cohen. Cohen said the events
could be spread out throughout the year as was done with the 75th Anniversary. We need coordination
and more contributors. Ditty suggested a slogan on the hayride at the parade. Cohen would like the City
to authorize the EBD committee to coordinate the Year 2000 Celebration. He said if it was not our
group, it would be some ad hoc committee. There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Bergeland for
conceptional approval of the Year 2000 Celebration outline. Motion carried. LaCrosse will draft a
memo to city manager.
Old Business:
No reports.
New Business:
LaCrosse said we will put up banners at Centerbrook, Cass Screw, BCHS and City
Hall. We have one left because we would prefer not to put it up on County Road 10. The Rainbow,
Walgreens area was suggested.
There was a motion by Bergeland, seconded by Cohen to approve payment of a bill to Kentco Signs for
$198 for changing the dates on the banners. Motion carried.
