Earle Brown Days
Meeting Minutes
June 22, 1999
PRESENT:
Dorff, Youngberg, Thompson, Ditty, Roen, Zastrow, Holcomb,
Cohen, Kuefler, Nelson, Milton and LaCrosse.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Kuefler, seconded by Holcomb to approve the
minutes of June 15, 1999. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
: Zastrow reported $16,023.25 in checking, $8,232.11 in one CD and $2,112.34
in the other CD for a total of $26,367.70. There was a motion by Roen, seconded by Ditty to approve the
treasurers report. Motion carried.
Arts & Crafts Fair
- Holcomb said the phones have been ringing off the hook. If everyone comes in that
calls, we should be filled. Dorff gave her door prizes. She said she has been getting requests to sell Beanie
Babies. Her policy is that it must be less than 5% of the merchandise and related to things they are making.
Battle of the Bands
- Milton said April wanted to come to the meeting this morning but is running around
collecting the waivers from the band members. There are four bands. There will be additional publicity at the
parade and at Brookdale. She wanted to clarify that it is not sponsored by Peacemaker.
Ice Cream Social
- Thompson said nothing has changed from her last report. Dorff asked her to get a count
of the number of ice creams given out. There will be a table set up to sell Earle Brown Days T-shirts and
and to hand out the calendar of events. Cohen asked if the Year 2000 handouts could be made available too.
Holcomb will sit at the table.
Kid's Fishing Contest
- LaCrosse said she received a call from a professional fisherman who wanted to
sponsor the contest. She said she told him we already have a sponsor. However, she discussed with him the
possibility of some seminars in Year 2000 in conjunction with Earle Brown Days. He also had a program
where children could check out rod & reels and when they returned them, they are given a tackle box to keep.
LaCrosse said she would like to discuss this in further detail at a post EBD meeting.
Parade
- Ditty said the Home-Away unit has dropped out of the parade and in there place will be the
Brooklyn Center cheerleaders. He said he has heard that Ole is going to put in an antique fire truck. He
doesnt know where he will put it. The judges will block off their area on the bleachers and the rest of the
bleachers would be available for the public. The judges will tape the competition this year for free, but next
year it could cost a little more. Ditty suggested we have some type of competition for band color guards, etc.
next year. This will be discussed at a post EBD meeting.
Picnic/Games
- Dorff said the program is the same. There will be a flyer with the contributors on back.
Publicity
- LaCrosse asked if anyone had seen the display ads in the Star Tribune. Holcomb said we are
getting crafters calling because of the ads. Everyone thought the tabloid looked great.
Sunday In Central Park
- No report.
10K & 2 Mile Walk/Run
- Youngberg said the shirts are ordered. She is hoping for someone at
HealthPartners to take over next year. She will not be able to chair next year.

Year 2000 Celebration
- Christys Auto will provide a vehicle. LaCrosse will make a sign. Kuefler said
LaCrosse sent out letters to the organizations soliciting input. Cohen would like the information booth
moved over to the concert site that evening.
Insurance
- LaCrosse said we are covered. She asked if she could have approval to get a check from Joelien
when the invoice came in. There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Kuefler to approve payment for the
insurance. Motion carried.
Pro Wrestling
- Kuefler said he talked to Rich and they are all set for the parade.

There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Youngberg to pay the bills. Motion carried.

There was a motion by Youngberg, seconded by Ditty to adjourn the meeting. The meeting
was adjourned at 8:38 a.m.
