Earle Brown Days
Meeting Minutes
May 11, 1999
PRESENT:
Dorff, Kuefler, Roen, Holcomb, Cohen, Roen, Nelson and
LaCrosse.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Roen to approve the
minutes of April 20, 1999. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
: LaCrosse said there have been no bills paid since the last meeting. The
financial information would not have changed much. She did receive $250 in donations so far. Previously
received was a check for $600 from Firstar.
Arts & Crafts Fair
- Holcomb said new people have applications in but the returning exhibitors have been
calling frantically to see if they can still get in. She is returning the checks of three food vendors because we
have received maximum of five already. She can accommodate five comfortably with electricity. It is a good
mix of food. There are French crepes, Taste of Greece, Tribal Traditions, mini donuts and ice cream. The
cost of a booth is $49.50 for the fair and another $25 to stay for Sunday In Central Park. There are 20 craft
booths taken so far. She would like to place an ad in the paper for crafters. It was suggested we could
possibly market Shoreview, Blaine and Fridley. Posters work best in craft stores.
Battle of the Bands
- LaCrosse said she has talked to Pat Milton and told her our insurance will only cover
the spectators. LaCrosse would like a formal letter to Pat Milton from the board informing her that the
liability for band members lies with Peacemakers or the bands own individual home owners insurance.
There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Kuefler to direct the chairman to write a letter requiring
insurance by band members. Motion carried.
Ice Cream Social
- No report.
Kid's Fishing Contest
- LaCrosse has not heard from BrookPark Dental yet. Dorff said he will call them.
Parade
- Dorff asked if we would be able to have the lineup in the tabloid. LaCrosse said she will be meeting
with Ditty and Kuefler next Tuesday to do the lineup in time for the tabloid deadline. Roen said he might
have another convertible for the Lionesses. LaCrosse asked him to let her know by next Tuesday. LaCrosse
said the cost for the hayride is $375 this year. In her opinion that is too high. She will call a couple of other
places. Dorff said we should assume we will find something so the committee can be in the parade.
Picnic/Games
- Dorff said there will be no changes. He has not been out to make contacts yet. Holcomb
needs a list of businesses and business cards. Nelson suggested the games flyer be sent home with children in
the nine elementary schools.
Publicity
- LaCrosse said a general Earle Brown Days flyer goes out to the children in elementary schools the
last week of school. In addition, paid ads are taken out in the Star Tribune and Osseo/Maple
Grove/Champlin/Dayton Press, the tabloid that goes out to everyone in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park,
banners, five arts & crafts fair signs, reader board, school reader boards, and public service announcements on
radio and television.

10K & 2 Mile Walk/Run

Year 2000 Celebration
- Cohen passed around an informational sheet on an update of the Year 2000
committee and a budget request for publicity. Park signs would cost $39.24 each. He estimated 10 signs for
a total of $392.40. LaCrosse has not gotten a price for the banners. She said she thought all banners would
have the same information on them. Cohen said some of them could. LaCrosse said Chippewa Graphics will
donate a promotional handout. There was a motion by Kuefler, seconded by Roen to approve the budget not
to exceed $1,000 for Year 2000 publicity. Motion carried
Insurance
- LaCrosse said the application has been submitted but she has not received a quote yet.
Pro Wrestling
- Kuefler said he met with Joe Ericksen, Sue LaCrosse and Rich Martin, wrestling promoter.
It will be a free event on Sunday, June 27 from 1-4 p.m. in Central Park. Promoter Rich Martin provides
announcer, referee, television coverage, insurance for wrestlers, ring, and security for wrestlers. Holcomb
asked if the promoter could have Earle Brown Days flyers available at other shows. Kuefler will check.
Kuefler said we have to insure the crowd, provide the site and a dressing room. The ring is 16' x 16' with 10'
buffer around it and another 10' for lawn chairs. LaCrosse said he wants $2,500 in cash that day. She said it
is not a problem because the community center has a safe and she can get cash from Joelien.
