Dorff.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a correction to the minutes of July 13, 1999. The total for
the financial report should read $18,602.16, not $88,602.16. There was a motion by Cohen seconded by
Roen to approve the minutes of July 13 with this correction. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
: LaCrosse reported for Zastrow a balance of $4,481.87 in checking and
$8,304.97 in one CD and $2,147.64 in another CD for a total of $14,934.48. There was a motion by Cohen,

Henry Dorff as President, Phil Cohen as Vice President, Sue LaCrosse as Secretary, and Joelien Zastrow as
Treasurer. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF BOARD MEMBER TERMS:
There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Roen to
approve the renewal of the terms of Kent Campbell, Tony Ditty, Larry Roen, and Sally Thompson through
September 30, 2002. Motion carried. There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Roen to appoint Ed
Nelson to the board of directors for a three year term to expire September 30, 2002. Motion carried.
YEAR 2000:
Nelson said the city will be establishing a youth council that would hopefully be involved in
Earle Brown Days and the Year 2000 celebration.
Cohen said he had hoped the Year 2000 committee could operate under EBD. He said he has made a
proposal to the city manager. He said the Year 2000 liaison will be staffed separately from EBD and a
meeting with the attorney has determined the Year 2000 committee should incorporate itself. This will also
give more protection for those involved.
The question is that if they are going to incorporate, does it make sense to look beyond Year 2000. EBD has
staying power because of the commitment of the members. If the Year 2000 committee exists beyond the
Year 2000, it could be called something like Brooklyn Center 21st Century Events Committee. Then it will
have the flexibility to continue on after Year 2000. The purpose and structure will go beyond.
Cohen said the fundraising has started through personal contacts. He will not send out a mailing for this. He
does not want to interfere with EBD fundraising.
LaCrosse asked if the check for $500 from North Metro could be deposited in the EBD account for now.
Cohen said yes.

LaCrosse asked if the fireworks are going on for sure. Cohen said yes and to contact Len Bolander and tell
him sometime between 7-9 p.m.
FUTURE EARLE BROWN DAYS DATES:
There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Nelson to approve June 22-25, 2000 and June 21-24, 2001 as the
official dates of EBD for the next two years. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
The publicity sub committee of Dorff, Kuefler, Cohen and Youngberg have not
met yet. Dorff will call a meeting sometime before he leaves for Arizona. Nelson suggested referring to
Earle Brown Days as a mid summer community festival for the whole family. Dorff will put this on the
agenda for the meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Dorff handed out information he put together on the picnic and games. He said
it is important to have background on what has been done. A history of what has been done for events will
help new people joining the committee. Dorff would like all event chairs to write up something similar.
Cohen suggested he circulate a sheet with specific questions on it to other committee chairs to serve a model.
PAYMENT OF BILLS:
City of Brooklyn Center $6.27 Postage
There was a motion by Roen, seconded by Cohen to pay this bill. Motion carried.
NEXT MEETING:
Tuesday, October 19, 7:30 a.m., Conference Room A.
ADJOURN:
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 a.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Sue LaCrosse
City Liaison
