HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000 02-15 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes February 15, 2000 PRESENT: Ditty, Kuefler, Nelson, Zastrow, Cohen & LaCrosse. Meeting was called to order at 7:35 a.m. by Phil Cohen. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Ditty, seconded by Kuefler to approve the minutes of January 18, 2000. Motion carried. FINANCIAL REPORT : Zastrow reported $3,905.38 in checking, $8,454.26 in one CD and $2,184.13 in the other CD for a total of $14,593.77. This does not cover the checks used for the caterer and the band for the birthday party. Cohen said the City collected the money for the birthday party and could not provide a blank check. He said this goes back to the motion passed by the EBD board to front money for the Year 2000. He said he has a commitment from Marquette Bank and North Memorial. There was a motion by  Kuefler, seconded by Ditty to accept the treasurers report. Motion carried. Arts & Crafts Fair: Kuefler reported that the first mailing for vendor applications with business card coupons have gone out. He said we are giving them a chance to promote the event. He reported that the yo-  yo program is in place and the yo-yos are here. He has also solicited volunteers to help and has two for sure. Family Fun & Games: No Report. Ice Cream Social: LaCrosse said Sally Thompson has resigned her position at Brookdale. She will be managing the new outlet mall in Albertville. Since we have no contact regarding the ice cream social, Phil Cohen will contact Sharon Paulson.  Kids Fishing Contest: No report. Music/Fireworks: LaCrosse said Reuben Ristrom is not available because of the change to Saturday night. She said she had a hard time finding a group for Saturday night for around $500. She has hired the Perculators who play a variety of music. She said that in the future if we want a more exciting group, like the  Rockin Hollywoods, EBD would need to supplement the fee. She asked the committee to give it some thought for next year.  Parade: Ditty said he will be adding the following to the band letter. Any stopping or performing  before and after the judges stand will result in being eliminated from the competition. Your cooperation is  needed to keep the parade moving smoothly. Therefore, when you are asked to move out, please do so or  we reserve the right to remove your band from the parade. He had the most trouble with Park Center and Champlin Park High Schools. Cohen said he will talk to Kay Lasman because she knows the principal at Park Center. Maybe he would be willing to talk to the band director. Tony will talk to Kay. Cohen will try to get a contact at Champlin Park. The float competition will be added to the other parade letter. Publicity: LaCrosse said the deadline to get information into the summer City Watch/Recreation 1 Brochure is the first week in March. Teen Event: No report. 10K/2 Mile Run/Walk: LaCrosse reported that Karen Youngberg has resigned from this committee. She has sent a letter to HealthPartners asking them to continue. Tennis Event: LaCrosse said she talked to the two gentlemen who came to a fall meeting. They are still planning to offer a tennis event. He will call her when he gets back from his trip. This will work out to be included in the publicity. Year 2000: Cohen reported the birthday party went very well. He passed around pictures. He said there is a commitment from Marquette Bank for $1,000 and North Memorial for $500. He said he has made it clear this is separate from EBD. PAYMENT OF BILLS: City of Brooklyn Center $7.26 Postage - January. There was a motion by Ditty, seconded by Kuefler to pay this bill. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS: LaCrosse said we are running out of envelopes. She asked the board what they want to do because there had been some talk about changing the logo. Kuefler will come up with a new phrase for the logo. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, March 21, 7:30 a.m. in Conference Room A.
