Earle Brown Days
Meeting Minutes
June 20, 2000
PRESENT:
Dorff, Ditty, Kuefler, Roen, Holcomb, Zastrow, Cohen, Nelson,
Youngberg, Johnston, and LaCrosse.
Meeting was called to order at 7:37 a.m. by Henry Dorff.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Kuefler, seconded by Ditty to approve the
minutes of June 13, 2000. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT
: Zastrow reported $2,533.31 in checking, $8,531.19 in one CD and $2,184.13
in another CD. Total is $13,248.63. There was a motion by Cohen, seconded by Kuefler to accept the
treasurers report. Motion carried. Other than publicity, most of the large bills have been paid.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Holcomb said she has received five more checks, four are crafters. Kuefler has the
signs up. There are less vendors than previous years. Holcomb would like the free face painting to be
scheduled from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and from 2:30 - 4 p.m. Dorff gave her several gift certificates for door
prizes including one to Country Suites.
Family Fun & Games:
Dorff said the staff at the community center will fill the water balloons. He has
collected $1,030 in prizes and gift certificates. LaCrosse said we should give away a couple of kids size Earle
Brown Days t-shirts. Cohen reported he has 8 bodies signed up to help. He will recruit some more.
Ice Cream Social:
Cohen said it is all set.
Kids Fishing Contest:
LaCrosse reported that BrookPark Dental is all set and looking forward to it.
Music/Fireworks:
No report.
Parade:
Ditty said he has a meeting tonight and will fill the volunteer spots. Cohen will commentate
with someone from Northwest Community Television. Ditty said P&H would like an application next year to
be in the parade.
Publicity:
LaCrosse said the Star Tribune ads will be in Wednesday and Thursdays papers. She saw the
television ad. Holcomb heard the radio ad. LaCrosse said she received a request for the arts & crafts show
from someone who heard the radio ad.
Tennis Event:
Johnston said they have between 10-15 people helping and they will play tennis if no
one shows up for the event.
Year 2000:
Cohen said the Rotary is sponsoring a Patriotic Yard Display and Garden Display Contest.
Flyers will be distributed at Earle Brown Days events and the entries sent to the community center. Kuefler
reported the Earle Brown Heritage Center Open House will be on July 9 from 2 - 4:30 p.m. with the time
capsule opening at 3 p.m.

Yo-Yoing:
Kuefler said it is all ready to go. Jarret is ready to conduct the program.
NEW BUSINESS:
LaCrosse said she is on the Brooklyn Center Family Services Collaborative and the
Youth Asset Building sub committee. Also on that sub committee is a student from Brooklyn Center High
School. Some teens would like to have a block party or concert. LaCrosse asked if the Earle Brown Days
committee would be interested in financially supporting such an event. Holcomb said a concern she has is the
lack of volunteers and the lack of participation. There was a motion by Youngberg, seconded by Holcomb
supporting the investigation of a teen event with reasonable financial support. Motion carried.
Kuefler introduced a resolution recognizing the dedication of Emily Dorff in supporting Henry in his work
with Earle Brown Days. Seconded by Cohen. Motion carried.

There was a motion by Ditty, seconded by Holcomb to adjourn the meeting. The meeting
was adjourned at 8:25 a.m.
