HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001 06-05 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 5, 2001 PRESENT: Phil Cohen, Councilmember Ed Nelson, Larry Roen, Karen Youngberg, Henry Dorff, Cathy Ballot, Tony Ditty, Leatha Lemmer, Toni Johns, and Sue LaCrosse. Henry Dorff called the meeting to order at 7:34 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Tony Ditty seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of May 15, 2001. FINANCIAL REPORT: Cathy Ballot reported a balance of $9,186.61 in checking. There is $11,389.29 in the CD’s, which will be coming due in November and December. Family Fun & Games: Henry Dorff reported the need to solicit prizes and gift certificates. Ice Cream Social: Sue LaCrosse said Phil gave her the information needed for the tabloid. She said they are doing a neat contest in which the person who brings in the oldest Brookdale receipt wins a $50 gift certificate.  Kids Fishing Contest: Sue LaCrosse said the prizes have been purchased and we have received the check from BrookPark Dental. Their staff is eager to participate again. Music/Fireworks: No report. Parade: Tony Ditty reported there will be a fairly decent parade. There are only six bands but lots of floats due to the prize money. There are about 80 units total. Publicity: Sue LaCrosse said that Toni Johns supplied her with a list of diversity newspapers and that press releases went out to them right away. Some of the papers might be monthly papers and the information will be received too late. We will have for next year. She asked everyone to distribute flyers and posters at the place of business, church, etc. The paid ads will be placed this week. Flyers went out to all schools, some businesses and churches. Sue and one of the students coordinating the street dance did an interview for cable television. Sue said she needs a check today for the changing of the dates on the banners. The company requires a check when the banners are picked up. There was a motion by Ditty, seconded by Lemmer to approve a check for $246.65 to Kentco signs for date change on banners. Motion carried. Tennis Event: Henry Dorff asked if we should add racquets and balls furnished on the Tennis Carnival flyer. Sue LaCrosse said yes. Teen Event: Sue LaCrosse said the students are doing a good job. Pretty much everything is set. A generator has been ordered, volunteer t-shirts have been ordered, and the D.J. has been booked. She invited the committee to come out and take a look at the event. Youth Golf Tournament: No report. 1 Arts & Crafts Fair: Toni Johns reported there are five food vendors. She assigned everyone to a booth based on his or her specifications. She has set them up in her computer in order and alphabetically. She said everything is going very good. She has met a couple times with Pat Holcomb. She has met with Henry Dorff. She is taking a sign up sheet with her to Rotary today. She will ask for volunteers to work the Family Fun & Games and the Arts & Crafts Fair. OLD BUSINESS: Henry Dorff, Tony Ditty, and Karen Youngberg will help solicit for prizes and gift certificates. Henry said he would like to recruit Tony Kuefler to help. Karen Youngberg called Kara Jean and she is available to help on Saturday. She can sit at the information table. She would like to have her literature there. Cathy Ballot and Ed Nelson said they could help in the morning of the arts & crafts fair. Leatha Lemmer said she might have enough water bottles for each child registering for the Family Fun & Games. The committee would like to use them. NEW BUSINESS: None. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, June 12, 7:30 a.m. in Conference Room A.
