HomeMy WebLinkAbout2001 06-12 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 12, 2001 PRESENT: Phil Cohen, Councilmember Ed Nelson, Henry Dorff, Cathy Ballot, Tony Ditty, Ab Johnston, and Sue LaCrosse. Henry Dorff called the meeting to order at 7:37 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Phil Cohen seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of June 5, 2001. Motion carried. FINANCIAL REPORT: Cathy Ballot reported a balance of $10,414.96 in checking. There is $11,389.29 in the CD’s, which will be coming due in November and December. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Ed Nelson to approve the financial report. Motion carried. Arts & Crafts Fair: No report. Family Fun & Games: Henry Dorff reported he has made 52 stops and has received contributions from 17 businesses totaling over $1,500. The big ones are the hotels and motels. Ice Cream Social: Phil Cohen said it is all set. Kid’s Fishing Contest: No report. Music/Fireworks: No report. Parade: Ed Nelson said he talked to the band director at Osseo and they will participate in 14 parades this year. They receive $1,000 - $2,500 just to show up at these parades. Phil Cohen said there is no way we could compete with that. At least we know why some bands are not coming to our parade. We will discuss field shows at a future meeting. Publicity: Sue LaCrosse said the tabloid comes out on Wednesday. It was a difficult process this year because of all the staff changes they had. She hopes it turns out okay. The paid ads will appear in the Star Tribune Variety Section on Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday of next week. She asked people to continue to promote with flyers and posters. Tennis Event: Ab Johnston said he has had a meeting and has a full sign up of volunteers. Henry Dorff suggested a sign up sheet for tennis participants. Ab Johnston will take care of that. Teen Event: No report. Youth Golf Tournament: No report. 1 NEW BUSINESS: None. PAYMENT OF BILLS: City of Brooklyn Center Postage $15.84 Tribal Tastes Exhibitor Breakfast Open Mandi’s Minis Exhibitor Breakfast Open Band Money Parade $4,050.00 St. Paul Clown Club Paid parade unit $300.00 Zuhrah Antique Car Club Paid parade unit $400.00 There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Ed Nelson to pay these bills. Motion carried. NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, June 19, 7:30 a.m. in Conference Room A. ADJOURN: There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Phil Cohen to adjourn the meeting.
