HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 06-04 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 4, 2002 PRESENT: Councilmember Ed Nelson, Cathy Ballot, Dan Vang, Ab Johnston, Tony Ditty, Henry Dorff, Phil Cohen, and Sue LaCrosse. Henry Dorff called the meeting to order at 7:40 a.m. There was a motion by Tony Ditty, seconded by Dan Vang to approve the minutes of May 14, 2002. Motion carried. Treasurer’s Report: Cathy Ballot reported $3,433.15 in checking, $9,370.36 in one CD, and $2,387.94 in another CD for a total of $15,191.45. She said there is a deposit of financial donations. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Tony Ditty to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. Arts & Crafts Fair: Sue LaCrosse said Toni Johns was unable to attend today’s meeting. We have 52 booths sold. However, there are only two food vendors. She said Toni Johns and Pat Milton will be figuring out where exhibitors will be located and confirmation letters will go out later this week or early next. Sue LaCrosse said it looks like a really good show. She hopes we will get people out shopping. Budget and Finance: Phil Cohen said the money is coming in. He said checks have been received from Luther and Cass Screw. Family Fun & Games: Henry Dorff said Toni Johns has started a sign up sheet with Rotary. He will attend today’s meeting. Karen Youngberg was unable to attend the meeting today. She reported via e-mail that she has met with Diane Spector and Diane would like to help again. They also discussed ideas on prizes and some additional age appropriate games for young children. Ice Cream Social: Phil Cohen will meet with Brookdale to finalize the traffic logistics of the ice cream. Sue LaCrosse questioned whether they needed both tickets and stamps. Phil Cohen will talk to them and find out. Kid’s Fishing Contest: Sue LaCrosse said that BrookPark Dental donated $200 this year toward the fishing contest. This is $50 more than previous years. Music/Fireworks: Sue LaCrosse said it is all set. Parade: Tony Ditty said there are almost 100 units. Champlin Park High School will be the lead band. Tony Ditty will contact Kevin in the police department to make sure they monitor the throwing fireworks type caps. It has been a problem in the past and now limited fireworks are legal. Publicity: Sue LaCrosse reported she has been working on the articles for the tabloid. Flyers have gone out the schools, some limited businesses and local churches, but she needs help from the committee to get the word out to the community. 1 Tennis Carnival: Ab Johnston reported he has 50 volunteers. He said the tennis pro at Hiway 100 will also participate. Teen Street Dance: Dan Vang said he will match the committee’s contribution of 100 t-shirts for a total of 200 t-shirts for give-a-ways. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the t- shirt expense. Dan Vang said he has had difficulty in finding a hotdog vendor. It was discussed that perhaps the Lions Club would be interested. Tony Ditty will call Dan Vang with Bob Becker’s number. Youth Golf Tournament: Sue LaCrosse said the flyer is done and Arnie will be sending it out to students in the youth golf league. NEW BUSINESS: Payment of bills: Kentco Signs $246.65 Change dates of banners There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Dan Vang to pay this bill. Motion carried. Schedule of meeting dates: June 11, 18 NEXT MEETING:Community Center, Cohen Room, Tuesday, June 11, 2002 – 7:30 a.m. in upper level.
