HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 06-11 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 11, 2002 PRESENT: Councilmember Ed Nelson, Cathy Ballot, Dan Vang, Ab Johnston, Karen Youngberg, Larry Roen, Toni Johns, Henry Dorff, Phil Cohen, and Sue LaCrosse. Henry Dorff called the meeting to order at 7:39 a.m. There was a motion by Larry Roen, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of June 4, 2002. Motion carried. Treasurer’s Report: Cathy Ballot reported $6,578.15 in checking, $9,374.17 in one CD, and $2,388.69 in another CD for a total of $18,094.36. She said there is a deposit of financial donations. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Larry Roen to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. Arts & Crafts Fair: Toni Johns said the confirmation letters are ready to go out. She said two people did not give an ending time. Tribal Tastes is definitely coming. Pat Milton helped get the confirmation letters ready for mailing. Sue LaCrosse said there has been a request for an arts & crafts fair refund. There was a motion by Karen Youngberg, seconded by Councilmember Nelson to refund the check for Joan O’Neil. Toni Johns said her husband will help put out the signs. Motion carried. Budget and Finance: Phil Cohen said he has received $2,475 in business donations so far. Sue LaCrosse said she is finalizing the information for the tabloid and needs to know if any more businesses should be listed based on previous years. Phil Cohen said to add Wells Fargo Bank, Brooklyn Center. Family Fun & Games: Henry Dorff reported he has over $1,000 in prizes and gift certificates already. He has made 51 calls and 18 have contributed. Toni Johns will pass out the sign up sheet at Rotary again. Henry Dorff reminded those who were soliciting to make a list of those that contribute and to give it a cash figure for his records. He also said he would like additional help in making business contacts. Ice Cream Social: Phil Cohen said he has not made final arrangements with Brookdale. Kid’s Fishing Contest: No report. Music/Fireworks: No report. Parade: Sue LaCrosse said there are 99 units. Publicity: Sue LaCrosse reported the ads are all set in the diversity newspapers and the Star Tribune. The information has been in two City Watch newsletters, out to kids at elementary schools, on the city’s website, and out to radio, television and newspapers as public service announcements. The special tabloid through the Sun Post will also have the information. She said she needs everyone’s help in distributing information to the business community. They do not get the City Watch newsletters. Tennis Carnival: Ab Johnston said everything is all set. He can’t wait until the event. He said 1 they will give out some door prizes. He would like to see a sign directing people to the tennis courts. He suggested printing information about the other events, including tennis, on the back of the handout given at the arts & crafts fair. Teen Street Dance: Dan Vang said the Lions Club will be a food vendor. He said the committee has met and everything is ready to go. Youth Golf Tournament: Karen Youngberg reported that Arnie Mavis has sent out the registration forms. NEW BUSINESS: Payment of bills: City of Brooklyn Center $20.66 Postage There was a motion by Toni Johns, seconded by Larry Roen to pay this bill. Motion carried. Schedule of meeting dates: June 18, 25 NEXT MEETING:Community Center, Cohen Room, Tuesday, June 18, 2002 – 7:30 a.m. in upper level.
