HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 06-18 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 18, 2002 PRESENT: Councilmember Ed Nelson, Cathy Ballot, Dan Vang, Ab Johnston, Larry Roen, Toni Johns, Henry Dorff, Tony Ditty, Phil Cohen, and Sue LaCrosse. Henry Dorff called the meeting to order at 7:32 a.m. There was a motion by Tony Ditty, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of June 11, 2002. Motion carried. Treasurer’s Report: Cathy Ballot reported $6,411.17 in checking, $9,377.97 in one CD, and $2,389.35 in another CD. There was a motion by Councilmember Nelson, seconded by Toni Johns to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. Arts & Crafts Fair: Toni Johns said the exhibitor space is filled. Food vendors are in short supply. She has been calling people on the waiting list. The Lions Club may be interested. She showed an example of the handout that will be given to people as they come in. She said there is a waiting list for crafters. Budget and Finance: Cathy Ballot reported that both Wells Fargo and Marquette Banks are donating $500. Sue LaCrosse said this information was added to the contributor portion of the tabloid. Family Fun & Games: Henry Dorff said he has 5 Rotarians signed up and also a few friends to help. He said he has been overwhelmed by the contributions of the business community. He said they want to contribute and it says a lot about our community. He said Hiway 100 gave 82 – 3 day passes valued at $3,690. He has a list of signs he needs. Ice Cream Social: Phil Cohen said he has met with Amanda at Brookdale. They will give out a ticket to everyone. After the person receives their ice cream, they will have a patriotic sticker put on. He said he should have some extra stickers, so they could be put on the kids at Family Fun & Games too. Kid’s Fishing Contest: Sue LaCrosse said the prizes of rod & reels, tackle boxes, and lures have been purchased. Music/Fireworks: No report. Parade: Tony Ditty said he received a call from a man who wanted to sell knick-knacks at the parade. He told him to try again next year because all of the vending space is filled. He said the police department is all set. Publicity: Sue LaCrosse reported the tabloid would be out this Wednesday. It goes to everyone in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park. She showed a rough draft of what it will look like. It has a patriotic theme. She said the ads are placed in the diversity newspapers. She also placed classified ads for the arts & crafts fair in the Star Tribune on Sunday, next Sunday and the Friday before the show. 1 Tennis Carnival: Ab Johnston said they have gift handouts but if Henry has extra, they would take them. Teen Street Dance: Dan Vang said B96 canceled out as a DJ but he has filled the spot. He will bring a sample of the t-shirt next week. Sue LaCrosse said there would be student volunteers taking surveys of the participants. After someone fills out a survey, they receive a free t-shirt while supplies last. Youth Golf Tournament: No report. NEW BUSINESS: Payment of bills: AJ Gallagher $1,259.50 Insurance There was a motion by Councilmember Nelson, seconded by Tony Ditty to pay this bill. Motion carried. We will need blank checks for Tribal Tastes, Mandi’s Mini’s, Float prize money, Band prize money, $300 for Antique cars, $300 for St. Paul Clown club. Schedule of meeting dates: To be determined. NEXT MEETING:Community Center, Cohen Room, Tuesday, June 25, 2002 – 7:30 a.m. in upper level. ADJOURN: There was a motion by Larry Roen, seconded by Tony Ditty to adjourn the meeting.
