Meeting Minutes
June 25, 2002
PRESENT:
Councilmember Ed Nelson, Cathy Ballot, Dan Vang, Larry Roen, Henry
Dorff, Tony Ditty, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg and Sue LaCrosse.
Henry Dorff called the meeting to order at 7:35 a.m.
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Dan Vang to approve the minutes of June 18, 2002.
Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report:
Cathy Ballot reported $7,605.17 in checking, $9,381.77 in one CD, and $2,398.00 in
another CD.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Sue LaCrosse said we have turned away at least a dozen crafters.
Budget and Finance:
Phil Cohen said we would only take as much money as we need to run the
place. There has been a good response. We’re okay. The key is the city’s contribution and the Lion’s
donation.
Family Fun & Games:
Henry Dorff said he wrote a letter to the editor of the Sun Post regarding the
response he has received from the business community. He passed around a list of the contributions and
asked committee members to indicate which prizes might fit in with their event. He gave Dan Vang the guitar
worth $125 donated by Schmitt music for the Teen Street Dance.
Ice Cream Social:
Phil Cohen said everything is all set. To avoid doubling and tripling, each
person will be give a ticket and a sticker. Henry Dorff will make some announcements. Karen Youngberg
will be responsible for having flyers available. The Larkspur Strings will perform.
Kid’s Fishing Contest:
Spiderman stickers donated by Fast Signs will be given out to each child at the
fishing contest.
Music/Fireworks:
There was a concern about people crossing Shingle Creek Parkway and the
lack of parking at the Hennepin County building.
Parade:
Tony Ditty said the judges are all set. He wants to see good intervals between parade
units.
Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse said the tabloid turned out really nice. The signs are out around the city. She
put a classified ad in City Pages regarding the arts & crafts fair. Tony Ditty said he had parade signs made at
the city garage.
Tennis Carnival:
No report.
Teen Street Dance:
Dan Vang said he has many Nintendo 64’s to give away that were donated by Cash &

Pawn. He also received some gift certificates from Chuckwagon.
Youth Golf Tournament:
No report.
NEW BUSINESS:

St. Paul Clown 300.00 Paid parade unit
Antique Car Club 300.00 Paid parade unit
Tribal Tastes Breakfast for exhibitors
Mandi’s Minis Breakfast for exhibitors
There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Councilmember Nelson to pay this bill. Motion carried.
Sue LaCrosse suggested ordering t-shirts for all of the volunteers next year. This would include volunteers at
the arts & crafts fair, parade, family fun & games, etc. It was suggested this go on the agenda for the next
meeting.

upper level.

There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Karen Youngberg to adjourn the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned.
