HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003 06-24 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 24, 2003 PRESENT: Henry Dorff, Daniel LaFond, David Galchutt, Tony Ditty, Cathy Ballot, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg and Sue LaCrosse. Henry Dorff called the meeting to order at 7:35 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Cathy Ballot reported a correction in the financial report from June 17. The corrected total should be $18,787.25. There was a motion by Kathleen Carmody, seconded by David Galchutt to approve the minutes of June 17, 2003 with the correction. Motion carried. Financial Report: Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $8,269.71. With the CD’s, there is a balance of $20,238.89. There was a motion by Kathleen Carmody, seconded by David Galchutt to approve the financial report. Motion carried. Arts & Crafts Fair: No report. Budget/Finance: Phil Cohen distributed information he is proposing go on postcards and given out at the various events. These postcards would request financial support from individuals participating in the activities. Henry Dorff distributed a draft of a letter that could go into the Sun Post asking for community financial support. Daniel LaFond said he sees room for booth efforts. Phil Cohen and Henry Dorff will move forward. Family Fun & Games: Henry Dorff asked those who have made solicitations to give him a list of their donations. He needs to make of list of what has been collected. He passed around a list of what has been collected so far and asked that committee members indicate what they would like to have as door prizes for their events. Henry collected the evaluation sheets that were sent out with the last mailing. He said it is a starting point in which to rate the events. We will then look at the ratings along with the cost involved. David Galchutt said this would tie in with a recap at our July meeting. Ice Cream Social: David Galchutt reported that he has re-connected with Fanny Farmer. He needs to purchase some supplies at Target. Daniel LaFond said he could provide some aprons. Insurance: Sue LaCrosse said the insurance company called and they have received the check. We should receive the policy this week. Kid’s Fishing Contest: No report. Music/Fireworks: No report. Parade: Tony Ditty said North Memorial would have medics on bicycles. David Galchutt asked if one of their new merchants could go behind the Brookdale unit. Tony said yes. Sue LaCrosse will provide David with a stack of parade applications next year, which could be distributed to all the Brookdale merchants. 1 Publicity: Sue LaCrosse asked if she should take pictures again. Total cost would be around $30.00. The committee said yes. Phil Cohen said he heard it announced on WCCO radio. Sue LaCrosse said our ads would run in the Variety section of the Star Tribune this week. Tennis Carnival: Ab Johnston said they would have 10 – 12 volunteers. Teen Street Dance: No report. Teen Dance: Daniel LaFond had nothing to report. Youth Golf Tournament: Sue LaCrosse said registration is going well. OLD BUSINESS: No old business. Motion carried. NEXT MEETING:Council/Commision Conference Tuesday, July 22, 2003 – 8:00 a.m. in the Room, lower level at CITY HALL. (NOTE: TIME CHANGE TO 8:00 A.M.
