Meeting Minutes
October 21, 2003
PRESENT:
Henry Dorff, Daniel LaFond, David Galchutt, Cathy Ballot, Councilmember
Kathleen Carmody, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg, Tony Ditty, Ritchie Miller and Sue LaCrosse.
Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:09 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Henry Dorff, seconded by Cathy Ballot to
approve the minutes of September 16, 2003. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $2,437.58 with one outstanding check
of $300. With the CD’s, there is a balance of $14,572.07. There was a motion by Ritchie Miller, seconded by
Henry Dorff to accept the financial report. Motion carried.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Sue LaCrosse said she has to make a commitment to place our ad again in the Midwest
Art Fairs publication. There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by David Galchutt to approve the ad
for the Midwest Art Fairs publication. Motion carried.
Honor Henry:
Councilmember Kathleen Carmody read the resolution passed by the City Council
recognizing the dedicated public service of Henry Dorff. Phil Cohen presented him with a clock.
Family Fun & Games:
This event will be going next year.
Ice Cream Social:
David Galchutt said this will continue.
Kid’s Fishing Contest:
Sue LaCrosse said at last month’s meeting, the committee indicated they
wanted to continue this event even though the number of fish caught has declined over the years. Henry
Dorff will check with his daughter, who works for the DNR, as to why they do not stock the creek anymore.
Karen Youngberg said they will try to get small prizes to give out to each child.
Music/Fireworks:
Phil Cohen said Dale Greenwald is all set. There was a motion by Phil Cohen,
seconded by Tony Ditty to send a letter of appreciation to the fire department for their donation for the
fireworks. Motion carried.
Parade:
Tony Ditty said the way it looks now the Lions Club would continue to sponsor. He would
like to keep the prize money up there to attract the high school bands. We have the most bands of all of the
parades around this area.
Publicity:
No report.
Tennis Carnival:
No report.
Teen Street Dance:
No report.
Teen Dance:
Daniel LaFond said he would like to continue this event.

Youth Golf Tournament:
Karen Youngberg said Arnie indicated this event would continue.
Budget/Finance:
Phil Cohen reported that our balance has pretty much maintained from last year. Sue
LaCrosse prepared a budget worksheet. The committee reviewed each line item. Tony Ditty said he would
like one more portable restroom at the Evergreen School parking lot area. The festival membership will
probably be $65.00. Karen Youngberg, Ritchie Miller, and Shane Mason will figure out how much money
they would like to budget for purchase of prizes. There was a motion by Tony Ditty, seconded by David
Galchutt to approve this as a tentative budget worksheet. Motion carried.
Bill Payment:
City of Brooklyn Center $8.82 Postage for September
There was a motion by Daniel LaFond, seconded by Tony Ditty to approve payment of this bill. Motion
carried.
NEXT MEETING:Council/Commision
Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at 8:00 a.m. in the
Conference Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
ADJOURN:
There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Ritchie Miller to adjourn. Motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 a.m.
