Financial Report: Cathy Ballot reported $1,688.18 in checking, $10,047.97 in one CD, $2,443.46 in the other CD. Total is $14,179.61. She said she paid the bill for trophies for last year. Sue LaCrosse handed out a spreadsheet of actual revenues and expenses received to date. We have received the check from the Lions Club and Mpls Convention & Tourism. She noted the proposed expenses for portable restrooms and insurance. Arts & Crafts Fair: Sue LaCrosse said there are eight crafter applications back so far but no food vendors. Budget/Finance: Phil Cohen said it is all in the reports and they will get what they can in donations. Family Fun & Games: The committee of Karen Youngberg, Ritchie Miller and Henry Dorff will meet. Henry Dorff said he needs people to help solicit the businesses. He is in the process of updating the list of businesses. Ice Cream Social: David Galchutt reported the possibility of offering a car show in the mall. Kid’s Fishing Contest: No report Music/Fireworks: All set. Parade: Tony Ditty said it would be a military theme to honor our troops. It looks like we may have someone from each branch of the services. He said he would be meeting with the police to reroute some of Humboldt Avenue. He said the flag bearers want to be in front instead of behind the fire trucks. The fumes were pretty bad for them. Sue LaCrosse said she had a request from Amy Lyons for the Do Drill to pass out gardening gloves, seed packets, water bottles and t-shirts. The committee decided we would allow the passing out of items but not literature. People passing them out would have to walk along the curb passing out; they cannot be thrown from vehicles. Publicity: Sue LaCrosse reported she has checked on ad prices for the Camden Community News and Mshale, an African Community Newspaper. This would be in addition to the Star Tribune ads. The down side of these publications is they are monthly and go out the first of the month. Our event isn’t until the end of the month. The price of the African newspaper is $500 and the price of the Camden paper is $250. The price for the Star Tribune arts & crafts ad is $1,056 and $704 for the festival ad. She asked whether the cost of the arts & crafts ad should be shown under publicity or arts & crafts fair. The arts & crafts fair is a moneymaker and is the only event that gets its own publicity. There was a motion by David Galchutt, 1 seconded by Cathy Ballot to spend up to $1,850 on Star Tribune ads and $150 photo & film developing. After discussion, the motion was withdrawn. Sue LaCrosse will call the Star Tribune and ask them for a new proposal to eliminate Wednesday for both ads and add Friday to the festival ad. She will report back at the May meeting.
