Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:06 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by David Galchutt to approve the minutes of October 21, 2003. Motion carried. Financial Report: Cathy Ballot reported $14,835.73 total in the bank. There is a CD coming due in February and she will renew that for 90 days. She entered back into checking $300 from a parade outstanding check. There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by David Galchutt to accept the financial report. Motion carried. Arts & Crafts Fair: Sue LaCrosse said the ad was placed in the Midwest Art Fairs publication. Toni Johns said to go ahead and change dates and send out crafter letters in February. She will need a new sign; one was stolen last year. Sue LaCrosse will contact the city sign department and get a cost. Karen Youngberg said she would check with Fast Signs if the cost from the city sign shop comes in too high. Toni Johns would like to get the lady who makes the porcelain back. Sue LaCrosse asked Toni Johns who the person is with the commercial toys. She would like to eliminate them from the list. She will e-mail the name to Sue. Budget: Phil Cohen went down the list of budget items. Phil Cohen said he believes that Dale Greenwald will again contribute towards the cost of the band. Sue LaCrosse said his band is already booked. Sue LaCrosse said John Connelly had indicated that we would probably still receive the $2,000 for publicity. She said this has to be spent on publicity, preferably outside Brooklyn Center. Ritchie Miller said the figures don’t add up for the parade. Sue LaCrosse said the city would pay for police officers, not barricades. The in- kind contribution from the city is adjusted at $5,336. This then adjusts the amount needed for the parade from the Earle Brown Days budget to be $2,104. Cathy Ballot said last year we did not need all of the band prize money budgeted. If we get the same number of bands, band prize money will be reduced about $1,000. Karen Youngberg said Rotary would probably contribute $450 this year. Ritchie Miller said to budget $200 for prizes for children. Ritchie Miller said the figures do not add up for the Teen Street Dance. Sue LaCrosse will adjust this budget too. She said she would make the changes and bring to the February meeting. Family Fun & Games: This event will be going next year. Ice Cream Social: David Galchutt reported the Brooklyn Center Mom’s Club would help serve. Fanny Farmer is closing. At this time, they do not know what kind of ice cream would be served. Kid’s Fishing Contest: Sue LaCrosse said she had a message from Henry of someone to contact at the DNR. She will call him to check on stocking the creek with fish. Toni Johns said only three fish were caught last year. Karen Youngberg will try to get small prizes for the children who check in. Music/Fireworks: All set. 1 Parade: Phil Cohen and Karen Youngberg will check with Tom Shinnick for sponsorship confirmation from the Lions Club. Publicity: No report. Tennis Carnival: No report.
