Earle Brown Days
Meeting Minutes
July 20, 2004
PRESENT:
Ritchie Miller, Henry Dorff, Karen Youngberg, Cathy Ballot,
Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Tony Ditty, Toni Johns, and Sue LaCrosse.
Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:03 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion made by Henry Dorff, seconded by Cathy Ballot to
approve the minutes of the June 22 meeting. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $9,816.20, with two outstanding checks
totaling $800; one CD has $10,062.37, the other has $2,445.97. Total balance is $21,524.54.
Bill Payments:
Horizon Pro Sound $ 330.00 PA for Parade & Family Fun & Games
City of Brooklyn Center 79.22 Postage
Biffs 864.20 Portable restrooms
Trophies By Linda 186.38 Trophies for bands/floats
City of Brooklyn Center 3,434.06 Publicity, maintenance, miscellaneous
Lions Club approx. 50.00 Donuts & coffee
There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Toni Johns to approve the payment
of these bills. Motion carried.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Toni Johns reported the arts & crafts fair was pretty successful considering the
competition of other shows this year. The crafters were very nice. They really liked their new location.
Budget/Finance:
No report.
Family Fun & Games:
Henry Dorff said it went well. It worked out nice to have Pat Milton hand out
the prizes.
Ice Cream Social:
Karen Youngberg said the owner was very happy and is willing to do it again.
She will send a letter to Brookdale. Karen Youngberg will talk to Brookdale and Molly’s Creamery.
Kid’s Fishing Contest:
Sue LaCrosse said the contest went well this year. A lot of fish were caught,
which made it more fun for the kids. She said they really liked getting the necklaces.
Music/Fireworks:
Sue LaCrosse said the music was great. She asked the committee if they would
like to invite Dale’s group back next year. She said the Fire Relief Association was very pleased with the
fireworks and is planning to sponsor again next year.
Parade:
Tony Ditty said it was a good parade. The trophies were nice. The committee thought it
would be nice if the bands would play music while marching.
Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse said the Star Tribune ads cost less than she was quoted. Karen Youngberg did
not like Earle Brown Days being lumped together with Tater Daze on the Cable 12 news. The small color

signs were nice.
Tennis Event:
No report.
Teen Street Dance:
Sue LaCrosse said it went well. The teens even danced. The support we
received from the What’s Up organization helped to make it a fun event. They ran contests.
Golf Tournaments:
Karen Youngberg said Arnie was pleased with the turnout.
New Business:
There was a motion by Tony Ditty, seconded by Toni Johns to move $2,000
from checking into one of the CD’s. Motion carried. There was a motion by Toni Johns, seconded by
Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to combine the two CD’s and renew them for a 6-8 month period.
Motion carried.
Sue LaCrosse said the dates for 2005 are June 23 – 25. The Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday,
September 21 at 8:00 a.m. at City Hall. Toni Johns will not be able to attend.
NEXT MEETING:Council/Commision
Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at 8:00 a.m. in the
Conference Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
Bring bills for payment.
