Earle Brown Days
Meeting Minutes
June 8, 2004
PRESENT:
Cathy Ballot, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Phil Cohen, Karen
Youngberg, Ritchie Miller, Tony Ditty, Toni Johns, Henry Dorff, and Sue LaCrosse.
Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Tony Ditty, seconded by Cathy Ballot to
approve the minutes of June 1, 2004. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $10,916.54, one CD of $10,056.60 and
the other CD of $2,444.84. Total is $23,417.98. With the deposits she received today, the balance is
$24,807.98. There was a motion by Henry Dorff, seconded by Ritchie Miller to accept the treasurer’s report.
Motion carried.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Toni Johns said the food vendors are Taste of Greece, Gourmet Hamburgers, Sweet
Taste of Italy and the Lions Club. Cathy Ballot suggested calling Culvers for an ice cream vendor. Toni
Johns said there are 22 crafters. All times are filled for the workers.
Budget/Finance:
Phil Cohen said the excitement this week came from Grand Casino as they sent a letter
saying they would sponsor Earle Brown Days in the amount of $500.
Family Fun & Games:
Henry Dorff said everything is in order. He will make a personal contact with
Rotary for workers. He received 50 one-day certificates for Hiway 100 club. Phil Cohen wondered if anyone
had the sheet where he wrote down the number of participants of the different games. Henry said he had it.
We will need about 120-130 balloons. Henry would like Ritchie Miller and/or another person to assist with
the water balloons. Ritchie Miller said to let him know when.
Ice Cream Social:
No report.
Kid’s Fishing Contest:
No report.
Music/Fireworks:
No report.
Parade:
Tony Ditty reported he has 79 units and 7 bands. The Brooklyn Center High School band
director would like to have her band perform on a flatbed. They are rebuilding the program and it is difficult
for the students to march and play their instrument at the same time. Toni Johns said they would have
matching t-shirts.
Publicity:
Our ad looks good in the Camden Community News. We also received a short piece in the
community calendar section. Karen Youngberg will do a Cable 12 interview.
Tennis Event:
No report.
Teen Street Dance:
Some of the youth from Dan Vang’s church will be able to assist with cleanup.
So that part is taken care of.

Youth Golf Tournament:
No report.
Bill Payment:
City of Brooklyn Center $31.31 Postage for May
There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Toni Johns to approve payment of
the bill. Motion carried.
NEXT MEETING:Council/Commision Conference
Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at 8:00 a.m. in the
Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
ADJOURN:
There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Toni Johns to adjourn
the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:37 a.m.
