Earle Brown Days
Meeting Minutes
June 15, 2004
PRESENT:
Cathy Ballot, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Phil Cohen, Karen
Youngberg, Ritchie Miller, Tony Ditty, Toni Johns, Henry Dorff, Ab Johnston and
Sue LaCrosse.
Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from June 8 were not available at meeting time.
Financial Report:
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $12,525.67 with one outstanding check
of $250; One CD has $10,057.56, the other has $2,445.03. Total balance is $24,778.26.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Toni Johns reported there are 24 vendors, 4 food vendors. Half of them are leaving at
6:00 p.m. and she is putting everyone on one side. The other side is very wet. The mailing will go out
tomorrow. She will hand out the sign up sheet at Rotary. Pat Milton and Toni Johns will do the sheet with
the map. The food vendors include the Lions Club, Sweet Taste of Italy, Taste of Greece and Gourmet
Hamburgers. Sue LaCrosse said she has not received the application from Gourmet Hamburgers. She also
indicated Culvers is very interested. They will let us know this week. Sue LaCrosse suggested asking the
Lions Club if they would buy donuts at Donut Delight to give out the vendors and they could sell the rest.
They could use one of the coffee urns at the community center to make coffee. Whatever expenses they incur
for free coffee and donuts, Earle Brown Days would reimburse. Toni Johns will call Tom Shinnick. Big
Brothers and Big Sisters indicated they will be there.
Budget/Finance:
No report.
Family Fun & Games:
Toni Johns said there is a good sign up for people to help. Henry Dorff
indicated he has two additional people to help. He will need his usual supplies. Committee members have
found the business community to be poor – fair – good, depending upon which business they went to. Sue
LaCrosse said you do not have to give prizes to the golf tournaments as Arnie has gotten donations for
prizes. The Mini 500 tournament charges a fee so they give out cash prizes. They would not need any prizes
either. Karen will have the donation banner made by Fast Signs.
Ice Cream Social:
No report.
Kid’s Fishing Contest:
No report.
Music/Fireworks:
No report.
Parade:
Tony Ditty said that Champlin Park Band will also be able to be in the parade bringing our
bands to 8. Sue LaCrosse said she was able to get the Antique Car Club fee reduced to $300.
Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse said she has done all of the free promotion like public service announcement to
radio and television stations, the different papers and flyers out to various participants in recreation programs.
The Sun Post tabloid comes out this week. Karen Youngberg did her interview with Cable 12. Hopefully,
we will all catch it when it comes on.

Tennis Event:
Ab Johnston said everything is all set.
Teen Street Dance:
Sue LaCrosse said it is all set.
Youth Golf Tournament:
Sue LaCrosse said the youth tournament may be canceled due to lack of
registration.
Bill Payment:
Midnight Breeze $1,200 Band for concert
Left Blank 2,650 Band Prize Money
Tri-State 850 Band & Float judges
Antique Car Club 300 Paid unit
St. Paul Clown Club 300 Paid unit
There was a motion by Tony Ditty, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve payment of the bill. Motion carried.

Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
