Meeting Minutes
June 22, 2004
PRESENT:
Cathy Ballot, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Phil Cohen, Karen
Youngberg, Tony Ditty, Toni Johns, Henry Dorff, and Sue LaCrosse.
Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:03 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion made by Tony Ditty, seconded by Toni Johns to
approve the minutes of the June 8 and June 15 meetings. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $12,475.67, one CD has $10,058.52,
the other has $2,445.22. Total balance is $24,979.41. There was a motion made by Henry Dorff, seconded
by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to approve the financial report. Motion carried.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Toni Johns reported she has one more food vendor and one more crafter. Those
vendors who are alone could get a worker to watch their booth while they use the restroom. She will mark
the booth spaces on Friday morning. Tom Shinnick will take care of getting donuts and coffee for the
vendors. We will reimburse the Lions for the vendor donuts and coffee and the donuts they don’t sell.
Budget/Finance:
Phil Cohen said we are in fairly good shape.
Family Fun & Games:
Henry Dorff said everything is in order. The guitar should go to the teen
dance.
Ice Cream Social:
Karen Youngberg reported that she stopped in to talk to staff at Brookdale
about the ice cream social. They really didn’t know much about it but were prepared to give out certificates
for ½ off ice cream at Molly’s Creamery. The BC Mom’s Club knew a little more as they had talked to
David several times. They were lined up to give out tickets for a scoop of ice cream and if Molly’s got too
busy, they were going to help scoop. Karen Youngberg tried to explain to them this could cause some public
relations problems because people were expecting free ice cream. Sue LaCrosse said in 1999 they served 700
scoops; last year they served 380 scoops. She suggested we consider paying for part or all of the ice cream
as it reflects poorly on Earle Brown Days too. Councilmember Kathleen Carmody and Karen Youngberg are
going to stop at Brookdale after today’s meeting. There was a motion made by Phil Cohen, seconded by
Tony Ditty to authorize Karen Youngberg to spend up to $500 for the ice cream social if nothing can be
negotiated with Brookdale. Motion carried. Councilmember Kathleen Carmody suggested Karen call Mayor
Kragness before offering to pay. She may have time to call or go over to Brookdale.
Kid’s Fishing Contest:
No report.
Music/Fireworks:

Parade:
Tony Ditty said everything is all set.
Publicity:
Karen Youngberg said Fast Signs is making a banner listing all of the sponsors who
contributed $50 or more. She asked if next year we could get something on Cable 12 that wasn’t lumped in
with Tater Daze. Sue LaCrosse said she would suggest it, but it is their call.
