Arts & Crafts Fair:
We have received half the applications that we had this time last year. It was
determined it may be due, in part, by having people sign that they have handmade items. There was a motion
by Tony Ditty, seconded by Toni Johns to send out a letter stating we have reconsidered our decision about
handmade items and would like to invite them to return. Motion carried. Ab Johnston said to go ahead and
invite Big Brothers/Big Sisters to be our nonprofit group. They will consider for next year.
Budget/Finance:
Phil Cohen said the businesses really like the certificates.
Family Fun & Games:
Ritchie Miller said the committee is getting prizes. Karen Youngberg said
Henry could use a few more people. They like the folders with the names of the businesses printed on the
front, which have the certificates in them.
Ice Cream Social:
Sue LaCrosse reported that David Galchutt said the car show fell through.
Kid’s Fishing Contest:
Sue LaCrosse said BrookPark Dental is set. They donated $250 and will
provide workers for the event again. Toni Johns said Leo would be able to help with the fish.
Music/Fireworks:
No report.
Parade:
Tony Ditty said there would be four grand marshals, one each from the marines, air force,
navy and army. Sue LaCrosse said she would need a small write up and picture on each for the tabloid. Tony
Ditty reported there are seven bands and 65 units. Toni Johns said Community Education needs a
convertible. Sue LaCrosse said there would be tryouts for the Do Drill Dance Team on Saturday, June 5
from 10 a.m. - Noon in the Cohen Room of the Community Center. They are looking for a committee
member to judge the tryouts. Tony Ditty said he would. Councilmember Kathleen Camody said she likes
some of the information in the Northeast parade letter. She made copies for everyone. Sue LaCrosse
suggested discussing it at our wrap up meeting and to use some of it next year.
Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse said she has gone ahead and placed an ad with Camden News. The Star
Tribune ads will cost $704 each for two days. Cost for changing the dates on the banner is $250. The Star
Tribune classified ad for crafters actually cost $59.14. The total cost of the ads and signs is $310.52 over the

amount donated by the Tourism Bureau.

Teen Street Dance:
Sue LaCrosse said she met with Dan Vang, students from Brooklyn Center

dance committee in getting more participation. Dan Vang has requested more help because the youth group
from his church will not be available this year. The Leo Club and What’s Up staff will help, but that is not
enough. Karen Youngberg suggested calling Pat Milton.
