HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004 09-21 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes September 21, 2004 PRESENT: Ritchie Miller, Henry Dorff, Karen Youngberg, Cathy Ballot, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Tony Ditty, Phil Cohen, and Sue LaCrosse. Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:06 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion made by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of the July 20 meeting. Motion carried. Financial Report: Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $2,423.61, with one outstanding check for $300. The CD’s have been combined. The CD balance is $14,523.94. Total amount is $16,647.55. There was a motion made by Phil Cohen, seconded by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to approve the financial report. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF BOARD MEMBER TERMS: There was a motion made by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Ritchie Miller to approve Phil Cohen, Toni Johns, Karen Youngberg, Dan Vang and Sue LaCrosse for a three-year term through September 2007. Motion carried. There was a motion made by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve Ritchie Miller for a one-year term through September 2005. Motion carried. APPROVAL OF OFFICERS: There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Henry Dorff to approve the officers as follows: Chairperson – Karen Youngberg Vice Chairperson – Phil Cohen Treasurer – Cathy Ballot Secretary – Sue LaCrosse Motion carried. 2005 COMMITTEES Arts & Crafts Fair: Karen Youngberg said Toni Johns would continue. Budget/Finance: Phil Cohen said he would continue. Family Fun & Games: Karen Youngberg will chair. Ice Cream Social: Karen Youngberg thinks Brookdale will continue. She will contact them. She thinks the new manager is the person she worked with on the ice cream social this year. Kid’s Fishing Contest: Sue LaCrosse will continue. Music/Fireworks: Sue LaCrosse asked if we wanted to invite Dale Greenwald back. The committee said yes. She said the Fire Relief Association has indicated they will sponsor the fireworks again. Parade: Tony Ditty will continue. 1 Publicity: Sue LaCrosse will continue. Tennis Event: We will have to check with Ab Johnston to see if they will continue. Teen Street Dance: Karen Youngberg said Dan Vang will continue with the Teen Street Dance and will try to attend more meetings next year. Golf Tournaments: Karen Youngberg said Arnie will continue offering the golf tournaments. Other Events: Karen Youngberg would like to get the helicopter back. She will contact TGI Fridays and Bridgeman’s about their car shows. She said other events could be added as long as they are financially self-supporting and they have workers to run them. New Business: Sue LaCrosse distributed a resolution passed by the City Council expressing their appreciation of the hard work from the Earle Brown Days committee. Discussion of changes to the parade application and letter will be on the next meeting agenda. It would be nice if the bands would play more music while marching. Tony Ditty will talk to the judges association to see if there would be a way to monitor this. If not, we would add to our letter how much it would be appreciated. NEXT MEETING:Council/Commision Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at 8:00 a.m. in the Conference Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
