Meeting Minutes
May 17, 2005
PRESENT:
Ritchie Miller, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Phil Cohen, Shelley
Klaessy, Toni Johns, Cathy Ballot and Sue LaCrosse.
Phil Cohen called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion made by Ritchie Miller, seconded by Cathy Ballot
to approve the minutes of the April 19, 2005 meeting. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
Cathy Ballot reported a checkbook balance of $9,508.32 and the CD balance of
$14,522.11. Total amount is $24,030.43. There was a motion by Toni Johns, seconded by Councilmember
Kathleen Carmody to approve the financial report. Motion carried.
Family Fun & Games:
Phil Cohen reported that Karen Youngberg said Henry Dorff may help with the
solicitation of businesses for door prizes. He needs transportation to the businesses. Councilmember
Kathleen Carmody said she is ready to go out but needs her certificates. Sue LaCrosse said she would e-mail
Karen Youngberg about it.
Ice Cream Social:
Shelley Klaessy reported Bridgeman’s will supply the ice cream. The event will
be held in the Marshall Field’s court area.
Kid’s Fishing Contest:
Sue LaCrosse has not heard from BrookPark Dental yet this year. Leo and
Collin will be our fishing contest officials this year.
Music/Fireworks:
Phil Cohen said Dale Greenwald would like to make a financial contribution to
the music this year.
Parade:
Sue LaCrosse distributed the new parade maps. The map is also on the city’s website under
Earle Brown Days. A separate map will go out the parade units showing where the line-up area is. There are
66 units and 8 bands.
Publicity:
Sue LaCrosse said she and Shrek taped the Northwest Cities show yesterday. Fun Characters
sent Shrek for free for the promo. The program is scheduled to air later this week. The schedule of events
will go out in the BC Buzz the first week of June, out to the children at our schools next week, and the
tabloid will be delivered June 16. She asked committee members to take flyers to distribute to the businesses
when they go out to solicit for door prizes. They will distribute at Rotary.
Golf Tournaments:
No report.
Arts & Crafts Fair:
Toni Johns said there is one food vendor. She will make some phone calls to
Culvers, Sweet Taste of Italy and the Lions. There are 17 crafters. Sue LaCrosse the second mailing went
out last week. The committee did not want to place another Star Tribune ad because of the cost.
Other Events:
The National Guard Helicopter will not be available. Karen Youngberg will try
North Memorial and/or the television stations. Toni Johns suggested the National Guard in Duluth. Sue
LaCrosse asked about paying for a helicopter. The committee said Karen Youngberg could call and get
information.

Fun Characters $160.00 Shrek, Fiona & Face Painting.
There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Toni Johns to pay the bills.
Motion carried.

Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. in the
Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
ADJOURN:
There was a motion by Ritchie Miller, seconded by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to
adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:27 a.m.
