Meeting Minutes
February 21, 2006
PRESENT:
Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Phil Cohen, Cathy Ballot, Karen
Youngberg, Shelley Klaessy, Toni Johns and Sue LaCrosse.
Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded
by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of the January 17, 2006 meeting. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
The balance in the checking account is $2,957.51. The balance in the CD
account is $12,088.98 for a total of $15,046.49. Cathy Ballot reported we received $500 from Wells Fargo
for last year’s festival. There was a motion by Toni Johns, seconded by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody
to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
BUDGET/FINANCE:
Phil Cohen suggested that we invite the director of Visit Minneapolis North to
our next meeting. The financial sub-committee set up another meeting. Phil Cohen needs information on the
Fishing Contest for BrookPark Dental.
ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR:
Toni Johns said Bridgeman’s has been contacted. Sue LaCrosse said the letters
went out last week to the exhibitors and food vendors. We have already received one exhibitor application
back. She said she booked the regular Dora because the one with the mask has scared small children.

: Cathy Ballot reported it is on.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
Ritchie Miller will help one more year. Money from Rotary has been
budgeted. The tickets worked well. They will start worker signup in March or April.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Shelley Klaessy said she will start making contacts for entertainment.
She is leaning towards a children’s group. They will have Bridgeman’s ice cream again. Cathy Ballot said
they are talking about having a jail set up at Brookdale during the ice cream social. It would be used as a
fundraiser for Peacemaker Center and hopefully the police chief would be one of the people jailed.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
Sue LaCrosse said the community center is purchasing a dolphin mascot
costume. They hope to have a name the dolphin contest and have the winning name announced at the Kid’s
Fishing Contest. Shelley Klassey said Brookdale Center would like to donate a mall gift certificate as a prize.
MUSIC/FIREWORKS:
Sue LaCrosse said we have a verbal with the fireworks company. Phil
Cohen will find out if Midnight Breeze is available.
PARADE:
No report.
PHOTOGRAPHER:
No report.
OTHER EVENTS:
The Trivia Contest will be held Friday, June 23, 7:00 p.m. at Brookdale. It will
cost $10/person with cash prizes. The fire department will hold an open house on Saturday, June 24 in the
afternoon.

There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to approve the payment
of the bills. Motion carried.
NEXT MEETING:Council/Commision Conference
Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. in the
Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
ADJOURN:
There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Phil Cohen to adjourn
the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 9:01 a.m.
