HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006 06-06 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 6, 2006 PRESENT: Cathy Ballot, Nancy Doucette, Shelley Klaessy, Karen Youngberg, Toni Johns, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Phil Cohen, Gboyee Seeyon and , Sue LaCrosse. Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Nancy Doucette, seconded by Shelley Klaessey to approve the minutes of the May 16, 2006 meeting. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT: Cathy Ballot reported $20,296.49 in checking. The CD’s were cashed and put in checking. There was a motion by Nancy Doucette, seconded by Phil Cohen to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. BUDGET/FINANCE: Sue LaCrosse reviewed the budget worksheet and updated the committee on revenues received. She said she is still unsure of where we are with the fireworks. If all goes well, we may only have to take about $4,000 from our reserves. Phil Cohen has a meeting at the Legion a week from Thursday. There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to approve the budget worksheet. Motion carried. ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: Toni Johns said she has lemonade, Taste of Greece, Lions and Bridgeman’s for food vendors. The applications are down from previous years. She said she will not be available to work the craft fair this year. She will be here through June 20. Karen Youngberg will arrange a meeting between Toni Johns and Deb Lester. Cathy Ballot will be available to work the early shift. It was decided we would order one regular portable restroom and three sinks. BINGO : Cathy Ballot said the cards have been ordered and they have obtained their license. FAMILY FUN & GAMES: Councilmember Kathleen Carmody said she and Karen Youngberg have purchased prizes and will donate a lot of them. Karen Youngberg said she tries to get $5-10 gift certificates. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Shelley Klaessy said she is meeting with Steve Lampi. KID’S FISHING CONTEST: Sue LaCrosse said it looks like she will need someone to take the fish off the hooks. Karen Youngberg will make a request at Rotary today. Councilmember Kathleen Carmody said her son and a friend might be available too. MUSIC/FIREWORKS: No report. PARADE: Nancy Doucette reported the confirmation letters went out yesterday. There are 73 units. She will make up a separate letter for the bands regarding pictures. This will be given out to the directors the evening of the parade. Sue LaCrosse will print the neighbor letters and John Krause will them pick up. The scouts will deliver them to homes. PHOTOGRAPHER: No report. PUBLICITY: Karen Youngberg distributed copies of the BC Buzz. The article on Earle Brown Days is wonderful. Sue LaCrosse reported the ad person with the Sun Post left the company. She said Sarah will give us nice coverage again. She showed the Official Tater Daze guide done by Prime Advertising. It may be something we want to pursue next year but then businesses only have so much money in which to advertise. She asked everyone to take flyers and posters with them today. TRIVIA CONTEST: Councilmember Kathleen Carmody said she will probably not sell tickets. If she receives calls, she will take their names. She is hoping for at least 50 people. She would like to have a microphone, overhead projector and a screen or white wall. She may purchase a trivia book so that she can verify an answer if someone challenges it. OTHER EVENTS: Karen Youngberg announced the pancake breakfast. She asked people if they could work from 8-10:30 a.m. She will need 6-10 people. She will need 100 flyers for Applebees. They will put them on the tables the week before. She suggested that the schedule be run on the back. BILL PAYMENT BCBA $ 200.00 Ad (Karen paid $25. Ad cost $225.) Radio Disney $3,500.00 Party Patrol Kentco Signs $ 285.00 Change dates on banner. There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Nancy Doucette to approve payment. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS: There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to set the 2007 Earle Brown Days dates as June 28, 29 & 30. Motion carried. NEXT MEETING:Council/Commission Conference Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. in the Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
