Meeting Minutes
November 21, 2006
PRESENT:
John Stewart, Mike Meyer, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, Cathy
Ballot, Shane Mason, Shelley Klaessy, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg, Josh Flaten
from the Sun Post, and Sue LaCrosse.
Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Mike Meyer to
approve the minutes of the October 17, 2006 meeting. Motion carried.
PUBLICITY PRESENTATION:
Josh Flaten from the Sun Post gave a presentation regarding the
tabloid for next year. He said he has been with the Sun Post for about 4 months. He did the Crystal Frolics
tabloid and explained the quality depends on the ads. He said the new ad manager said he should go out the
end of May. Karen Youngberg suggested early May and Shelly Klaessy said even earlier. The committee
suggested he develop some type of letter or flyer to take with him. He said they might come up with a new
pricing structure for the tabloid. He said he is committed to making this a go. Suggestions for the cover
included pictures from past to present and some type of silver cover. Phil Cohen said he would like to make
sure the businesses that donate get recognized.
TREASURER’S REPORT
: Cathy Ballot reported $2,466.77 in checking and $14,199.65 in the CD for a
total of $16,666.42. There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by John Stewart
to accept the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR:
Karen Youngberg said there has been no response from anyone to chair
this committee. Sue LaCrosse will check to see if there is a job description for the chairperson. Maybe the
tasks could be divided and two or three people could do it. Sue LaCrosse she does a great deal of the work.
Karen Youngberg and Phil Cohen will see if Rotary would take it on.
BINGO
: Cathy Ballot said they will do this for sure.
BUDGET/FINANCE:
Sue LaCrosse will put together a spreadsheet for the January meeting. She will
call the fireworks company for them to hold the date.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
This event will be held for sure.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
This event will be held for sure.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
This event will be held for sure. The police chief is already looking
forward to it.
MUSIC/FIREWORKS:
Sue LaCrosse said Dale Greenwald has booked this date for Midnight
Breeze for us.
PARADE:
Mike Meyer said Nancy Doucette contacted those units who threw stuff out of their vehicle or

from the street. There was a huge gap by the drum unit; many people thought the parade was over. If they
come back, Mike Meyer will tell them they can’t do this again.
PHOTOGRAPHER:
John Stewart said his son may take some of the pictures.
PUBLICITY:
Karen Youngberg said she finally received a call from Prime Advertising and asked if
we were still interested in inviting them to a future meeting. The committee said no.
RADIO DISNEY:
The committee would like Radio Disney back. Sue LaCrosse will contact them.
SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT:
This event will be held for sure.
TRIVIA CONTEST:
This event will be held for sure.
OTHER EVENTS:
Sue LaCrosse said we should wait to figure out what costumed character
we want. It was suggested we contact Radio Disney to see if they have any costumed characters. Shane
Mason will sponsor face painting again. Sue LaCrosse said we need to figure out when we want to have
the birthday party for Dunkin. Cathy Ballot said Peacemakers may be interested in doing a walk/run
event. The pancake breakfast fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 16 at Applebees. Karen
Youngberg would like to do presales.
EXT MEETING: Council/Commission
N Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. in the
Conference Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
ADJOURN:
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to
adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned.
