HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006 10-17 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes October 17, 2006 PRESENT: Cathy Ballot, Nancy Doucette, Karen Youngberg, LeAnne Christensen from Channel 12, and Sue LaCrosse. Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Nancy Doucette, seconded by Cathy Ballot to approve the minutes of the September 19, 2006 meeting. Motion carried. PUBLICITY PRESENTATION: LeAnne Christensen from Channel 12 presented information to assist with the promotion of Earle Brown Days. Channel 12 would produce and air a 10-second promotion of the event, which would be shown several times one to two weeks before the event. They would appreciate in return that we would use the Channel 12 logo in print publications. They would promote our event through a link on their website; and we would be featured on Channel 12 community calendar. They would display on-channel squeezeback graphics the evening prior to the event and the morning of the event. They would also produce and air two live interviews on site. They would cablecast the parade Live on Channel 12 and may be willing to come out for a Saturday event for a Live cablecast. The value of the promotion is $1,590. The representative from Prime Advertising was a no show. It was decided to invite the Sun Post to our November meeting. ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: It was reported that Toni Johns has resigned from the Earle Brown Days committee. Karen Youngberg met with Deb Lester and Pat Milton. Neither of them would be available to chair the event for 2007. They suggest easing slowly into something else. For 2007 we will still advertise th in the Midwest Art Fair publication at a cost of $285. Nancy Doucette suggested emphasizing the 25 Anniversary Celebration in the ad. Sue LaCrosse said Maple Grove calls their event the Business and Craft Expo and it is held on Main Street. Karen Youngberg will make an announcement for a chairperson at Rotary. BINGO : No report. BUDGET/FINANCE: Cathy Ballot reported 2,466.57 in checking and $14,126.37 in a CD with a total of $16,592.94. There was a motion by Nancy Doucette, seconded by Sue LaCrosse to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. Karen Youngberg said she will schedule a meeting with Phil Cohen, Nancy Doucette and maybe someone for the BCBA soon. FAMILY FUN & GAMES: Shane Mason will chair this event and Ritchie Miller will assist. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: No report. KID’S FISHING CONTEST: No report. MUSIC/FIREWORKS: No report. PARADE: Nancy Doucette said they are working to get Park Center back and have been making a list of 1 units to be added to the invite mailing list. PHOTOGRAPHER: No report. PUBLICITY: No report. RADIO DISNEY: No report. TOURNAMENTS: Karen Youngberg said the senior tournament will be held. TRIVIA CONTEST: Sue LaCrosse suggested promoting to some of the high school quiz teams. OTHER EVENTS: Sue LaCrosse said she would like to put the publicity in the form of a birthday party invitation. She would like to brainstorm for mascots to invite. Nancy Doucette suggested th we promote it as an event in conjunction with the 25 Earle Brown Days Anniversary Celebration. OLD BUSINESS: Sue LaCrosse explained Tater Daze would be held June 14-17. It was decided to hold Earle Brown Days on June 21-23, 2007. NEXT MEETING: Council/Commission Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. in the Conference Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
