Meeting Minutes
September 19, 2006
PRESENT:
Cathy Ballot, Nancy Doucette, Shelley Klaessy, Karen Youngberg,
Phil Cohen, Ritchie Miller, Mike Meyer, Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, and Sue
LaCrosse.
Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:02 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Ritchie Miller to
approve the minutes of the July 25, 2006 meeting. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Cathy Ballot reported 2,466.37 in checking and $14,078.37 in a CD
with a total of $16,544.74. There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Nancy
Doucette to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF THE RENEWAL OF BOARD MEMBER TERMS:
There was a motion by Nancy
Doucette, seconded by Mike Meyer to approve the renewal of Cathy Ballot’s term to end September 30,
2009. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF APPOINTMENT OF NEW MEMBERS:
There was a motion by Councilmember
Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Ritchie Miller to approve the appointment of Shane Mason and Nancy
Doucette to the board with terms to end September 30, 2007 and to approve the appointment of Mike Meyer
to the board with term to end September 30, 2009. Motion carried.
APPROVAL OF 2007 OFFICERS:
There was a motion by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Nancy Doucette to approve the
2007 officers: Karen Youngberg, Chair; Phil Cohen, Vice-Chair; Cathy Ballot, Treasurer; Sue LaCrosse,
Secretary. Motion carried.
ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR:
Karen Youngberg reported she will schedule a meeting with Toni
Johns, Pat Milton and Deb Lester to discuss the future of the arts & crafts fair and to see if they want to do
something different. Sue LaCrosse suggested contacting Pat Holcomb. Sue LaCrosse said a decision needs
to be made soon because of the ad we place in the arts directory. The ad cost is $300.

: Cathy Ballot will check it out and report on it at a later date.
BUDGET/FINANCE:
Nancy Doucette is available to assist with fundraising.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
Shane Mason and Ritchie Miller will coordinate this event.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Shelley Klaessy said she hopes it will be bigger and better.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
Sue LaCrosse said we will probably continue this event.
MUSIC/FIREWORKS:
Sue LaCrosse said this would depend on money.

PARADE:
Mike Meyer said this would depend on money. Councilmember Kathleen Carmody said there
will not be any road construction on Dupont next year.
PHOTOGRAPHER:
Karen Youngberg said John Stewart will continue as our photographer. He has
changed jobs and will not be available to attend our meetings until after the first of the year.
PUBLICITY:
Sue LaCrosse reported that Channel 12 would like to be more involved next year. She
will invite LeAnne Christensen to our October meeting. Karen Youngberg will invite someone from Prime
Advertising to come to the next meeting. Each will be given about 10 to 15 minutes to present their
proposals.
RADIO DISNEY:
It was very successful. It is a possibility again for next year.
TOURNAMENTS:
The golf course will probably sponsor a senior golf tournament but not a youth
tournament.
TRIVIA CONTEST:
Councilmember Kathleen Carmody will chair this committee again next
year. It was suggested that some of the clubs and organizations get teams together. Perhaps they could
challenge each other. Shelley Klaessy will put up some notices in the food court. Nancy Doucette
suggested putting up some notices in the trivia section of the book store.
OTHER EVENTS:
Karen Youngberg proposed a pancake breakfast fundraiser at Applebees
on November 11. It is hunting season and Veteran’s Day weekend. It was decided we would try to do a
pancake breakfast again the Saturday before Earle Brown Days, but cancel the November date. Sue
LaCrosse said the fire department will not be hosting an open house next year during EBD. They have
decided to do it in conjunction with Fire Safety Week. She would like to do another costumed character
and face painting next year. Shelley Klaessy said they had the Dora the Explorer connected with Time
Warner. It cost $5,000 but was worth it as they had hundreds of people who stood in line up to 2½
hours to see her.
NEW BUSINESS:
None
NEXT MEETING: All America Conference
Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. in the
Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
ADJOURN:
There was a motion by Ritchie Miller, seconded by Councilmember Kathleen Carmody to
adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 a.m.
