Meeting Minutes
April 24, 2007
PRESENT:
Mike Meyer, Shelley Klaessy, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg,
Councilmember Mary O’Connor, Cathy Ballot, Shane Mason, Joy Reinhart and Sue
LaCrosse.
Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:04 a.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Mike Meyer to
approve the minutes of the March 20, 2007. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT
: The balance in checking is $16,204.55. $6,585 was received for deposit.
There was a motion by Shelley Klaessy, seconded by Mike Meyer to accept the treasurer’s report. Motion
carried.
BINGO
: Cathy Ballot said it is still planned.
CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO:
Sue Lacrosse said we only have 3 crafters and 1 food vendor. At this
time last year we had 11. Karen Youngberg said Joy Reinhart will chair. Sue LaCrosse will e-mail her a list
of those who received the letter.
BUDGET/FINANCE:
Sue LaCrosse reviewed the budget spreadsheet. Donations have started to
come in.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
Shane Mason said he talked to Ritchie Miller. Shane will not be
available to work the actual event this year. He said they would like to make some revisions to the flyer. Sue
will e-mail him a copy of last year’s flyer. Karen Youngberg and Kathleen Carmody have been purchasing
some prizes. Karen will get some people together to solicit other prizes and gift certificates for door prizes.
Councilmember Mary O’Connor said she would like to help at this event.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Shelley Klaessy reported she has confirmed the Teddy Bear Band, the
face painters and Bridgeman’s Ice Cream.
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
Sue LaCrosse would like to purchase some plastic bubble bottles with
fish on them to give out to all of the participants. The committee approved. Phil Cohen will try to talk to the
police chief at Rotary today.
MUSIC/FIREWORKS:
No report.
PARADE:
Mike Meyer said he has more units he would like to send letters to. Sue LaCrosse said the
entries are coming in pretty good, except for the bands. We only have two so far. We have not heard from
Brooklyn Center or Champlin Park. Mike Meyer will contact the mayor for the awards ceremony. Mike
Meyer will contact the Antique Car Club because they are requesting $600 this year. It was suggested we
contact the local car dealerships for cars instead of using the Antique Cars. Mike will check on this.

PHOTOGRAPHER:
No report.
PUBLICITY:
The Radio Disney ad has been made. Fast Signs will donate all of the signs and
banners we need as long as it is not an unreasonable amount. The brochures went out to residents with the
schedule of events.
RADIO DISNEY:
Sue LaCrosse said she has submitted the form to Visit Minneapolis North. Wells
Fargo has committed to $750 this year.
SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT:
No report.
TRIVIA CONTEST:
Karen Youngberg suggested getting neighborhoods and clubs interested in
the contest. Mike Meyer said he already has a team. Sue LaCrosse will try to find out who she can send
the flyer to at the schools.
OTHER EVENTS:
Face painting, Dunkin the Dolphin Birthday Party and the 5K Run are all
set. It was suggested we try to have the magician on the showmobile. Sue said it may not be possible
because of the band set up. She will check with Dale Greenwald. Karen Youngberg said the pancake
breakfast is all set and she will have advance tickets at the next meeting. The price was set at $6.00. It
was suggested we send the flyer to the Dudley teams in advance. Sue will check with Joe Ericksen.
NEW BUSINESS:
Sue LaCrosse said she has a request for the Readmobile to be at Earle
Brown Days on Saturday. The committee approved this.
There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Joy Reinhart to approve payment of a bill in the
amount of $24.99 to the City of Brooklyn Center for postage.
NEXT MEETING: Council/Commission Conference
Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. in the
Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
