HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007 01-16 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes January 16, 2007 PRESENT: Mike Meyer, Cathy Ballot, Shane Mason, Shelley Klaessy, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg, Nancy Doucette, Councilmember Mary O’Connor, and Sue LaCrosse. Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Nancy Doucette to approve the minutes of the November 21, 2006 meeting. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT : Cathy Ballot reported $2,467.19 in checking and $14,302.49 in the CD for a total of $16,769.68. There was a motion by Councilmember Nancy Doucette, seconded by Mike Meyer to accept the treasurer’s report. Motion carried. There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Nancy Doucette to approve payment of $100 for membership to BCBA for 2007. Motion carried. ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR: Karen Youngberg reported that she met with Sue LaCrosse and the arts & crafts fair would be open for small businesses. After discussion it was decided to rename it Craft & Business Expo. The booth space price will remain the same. BINGO : Bingo will be held again. BUDGET/FINANCE: The budget/finance committee will meet January 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the community center. FAMILY FUN & GAMES: Some money will be appropriated to purchase some door prizes and gift certificates. Mike Meyer asked about having a referee because of kids cheating on their age. Shane Mason said they did question some kids. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: The event will be held. No details are available yet. KID’S FISHING CONTEST: Phil Cohen will contact the police chief regarding their participation. MUSIC/FIREWORKS: Sue LaCrosse said she left a message with Americana Fireworks and has not heard back. PARADE: Mike Meyer said the committee will be meeting the first Monday in February. PHOTOGRAPHER: No report. PUBLICITY: Sue LaCrosse said we will need to finalize the schedule by the February meeting for the City Watch newsletter. She will be meeting with Josh of the Sun Post to talk about the cover page for the tabloid. 1 RADIO DISNEY: Radio Disney is confirmed and we are locked in at the 2006 prices. SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT: No report. TRIVIA CONTEST: No report. OTHER EVENTS: Sue LaCrosse suggested doing our costumed character and face painting at about the same time as Bingo. Shane Mason will sponsor face painting. It was suggested we hold Dunkin the Dolphin’s birthday party on Friday afternoon during the pool event. Peacemaker Center is going to hold a walk/run. More details will be available later. The pancake breakfast fundraiser will be held June 16 at Applebees. Karen Youngberg would like to sell advance tickets. It will be $5/person. NEW BUSINESS: Sue LaCrosse asked if the Earle Brown Days committee would like to participate in the Business Expo at Brookdale on February 23 & 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. She suggested we might want to have a booth with the Special Events committee. The cost is $75 and we could split the cost. Shelley Klaessy said you get a table with cover and Brookdale will be having something going on to draw people to the center. There was a motion by Phil Cohen seconded by Mike Meyer to get a table at the Business Expo. Motion carried. There was a motion by Cathy Ballot, seconded by Phil Cohen to nominate Shelley Klaessy for the Special Recognition Award of the Special Events committee. Motion carried. EXT MEETING: Council/Commission N Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. in the Conference Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
