BINGO
: Cathy Ballot said they broke even or maybe made just a little. If this event is continued,
we would need to find another group that was interested in running it.
BUDGET/FINANCE:
Sue LaCrosse reviewed the budget spreadsheet. She said there are two
outstanding donations. We will be receiving $2,000 from Visit Minneapolis North and $750 from Wells
Fargo. We should end up with about the same amount of money that we started with.
CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO:
Karen Youngberg said Joy got some good feedback from
exhibitors. She said Joy and Deb have some great ideas and are excited about next year. Sue LaCrosse
said she would like to put an ending time on the donut/coffee coupon. After we had paid the mini donut
vendor, other exhibitors had gotten donuts and beverages. Another check had to be written. Sue said
we need to tell Deb and Joy that the city takes bids for vendors to sell glow-in-the-dark necklaces. Other
vendors are not allowed to do this even if they are an exhibitor in the craft & business expo.
FAMILY FUN & GAMES:
Karen Youngberg reported they had 133 children and 115 adults.
There were more girls than boys this year. Kathleen Carmody did a great job in organizing the prizes.
Kathleen Carmody suggested having a person stand back and verify the judges have selected the correct
stndrd
1, 2 & 3 place winners.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Shelley Klaessy reported they served close to 550. The event cost
around $2,600. She said the Teddy Bear Band did not bring as many people in as they hoped. She
would like to look at a different group next year.
1
KID’S FISHING CONTEST:
Sue LaCrosse said it went really well and we had more fish caught
than the last two years. She said everyone stayed around for the presentation of the awards. She said
the police chief would take over this event if BrookPark Dental did not want to do it anymore.
MUSIC/FIREWORKS:
Karen Youngberg would like a thank you letter sent out to the
fireworks company thanking them for the show. If possible she would like as many committee members
as possible to sign it. Sue LaCrosse said everything went well and asked if we wanted to invite
Midnight Breeze back again next year. The committee said yes.
PARADE:
Mike Meyer said everything went well. He received a thank you card from the
Aquatennial group. There are still a few groups throwing candy.
PHOTOGRAPHER:
No report.
PUBLICITY:
Sue LaCrosse said we still need to work on the publicity. Even though there was
a good turnout at most events, she is surprised that we don’t get more people. Mike Meyer said when
they were setting up for the parade; people went by and asked if the parade was that day. She passed
around a draft of a pamphlet that could be used as the invitations to participate in the parade or as an
exhibitor at the Craft & Business Expo. Shelley Klaessy suggested using Comcast to advertise. Sue
LaCrosse said she would like to build on what the Leos started with posters and flyers. It was suggested
we put up directional signs to the park. Many people still do not know there is a park behind the
buildings. Sue LaCrosse said we have a very strict sign ordinance. She will check to see if that is
possible. Many residents do not receive the Sun Post.
RADIO DISNEY:
Sue LaCrosse said the crowd was disappointing. She doesn’t know if it was
because we had so many other things going on, because we had them last year or because Radio Disney
has been out at many other community celebrations. We probably will not have them again next year.
SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT:
Sue LaCrosse said Arnie Mavis said it was a success.
TRIVIA CONTEST:
Kathleen Carmody said it went well. Next year, she would go over the
rules. She also needs a different system for checking people in. Many people just sat down at tables and
didn’t check in with her. Some people showed up and went around talking to people. This was
distracting for some teams.
OTHER EVENTS:
The magic show was a success. We should consider hiring two face
painters next year. The Dunkin’s party was a huge success. Sue LaCrosse said they will have it again
next year. Cathy Ballot said if we want to offer the run next year, we would need to find another group.
The pancake breakfast was successful. However, Applebees has been purchased by IHop. They may
not be able to do the pancake breakfasts in the future. Karen Youngberg said we may have to find
another fundraiser.
NEW BUSINESS:
None
