HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007 06-05 EBDM Earle Brown Days Meeting Minutes June 5, 2007 PRESENT: Mike Meyer, Shelley Klaessy, Phil Cohen, Karen Youngberg, Councilmember Mary O’Connor, Cathy Ballot, Kathleen Carmody, and Sue LaCrosse. Karen Youngberg called the meeting to order at 8:07 a.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Kathleen Carmody to approve the minutes of the May 15, 2007 meeting. Motion carried. TREASURER’S REPORT : The balance in the checking account is $22,603.02. BINGO : No report. CRAFT & BUSINESS EXPO: Karen Youngberg reported the committee met. They have decided to let Dominos Pizza in. There was a motion by Kathleen Carmody, seconded by Shelley Klaessy to deny businesses that do not have a product to sell in which a customer can take home with them. Motion carried. Karen said there are 18 crafters and businesses. She will be sending around a signup sheet at Rotary for workers. BUDGET/FINANCE: Sue LaCrosse reviewed the budget spreadsheet. She said not much has changed since the last meeting. FAMILY FUN & GAMES: Shane Mason has passed around a signup sheet at Rotary. Karen Youngberg said we need to get prizes. Councilmember Mary O’Connor said she has gotten some prizes. She said Panara needs a letter. Kathleen Carmody would like some letters too. Councilmember O’Connor will contact all of the restaurants and beauty shops. Kathleen Carmody will contact the hotels and Tony Ditty’s previous areas. ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Shelley Klaessy will confirm with Steve regarding Bridgeman’s Ice Cream at both the ice cream social and the craft & business expo. KID’S FISHING CONTEST: No report. MUSIC/FIREWORKS: There was a motion by Phil Cohen, seconded by Mike Meyer to request the city put in $3,000 toward the fireworks to keep the quality of this, one of three signature attractions a high quality event. Motion carried. PARADE: Mike Meyer said he will need youth to carry banners in the parade. Kathleen Carmody may be able to get some. He has the lineup done and Sue will get the confirmation letters out this week. PHOTOGRAPHER: Karen Youngberg said that John Stewart will have to resign after this year. PUBLICITY: Sue LaCrosse said the tabloid is almost done, the BC Buzz has gone out, and Mike Meyer has arranged for students to take out the posters and flyers to the businesses. She said some 1 of the committee members put together a beautiful display. She invited everyone else to stop by and take a look. RADIO DISNEY: No report. SENIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT: Since Bridgeman’s has closed, they are scrambling to find someone else to do the lunches. TRIVIA CONTEST: Kathleen Carmody asked everyone to think about how much prize money should be given away. OTHER EVENTS: Karen Youngberg will make up more tickets for the pancake breakfast. NEW BUSINESS: There was a motion by Mike Meyer, seconded by Shelley Klaessy to approve payment of bills in the amount of $255.60 to Nystrom Publishing for envelopes and a check for Kentco Signs to change the banner dates, amount around $250. Motion carried. NEXT MEETING: Council/Commission Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 8:00 a.m. in the Conference Room, lower level at CITY HALL.
